Can you sell part of a DVC contract?

Have a selling DVC question but dont know if the "Purchasing DVC" is the appropriate place, but here it is...

My wife and I have points at BLT and Saratoga. Kids are grown up and we dont need as many points as we did before. We want to keep BLT (contract #1) but sell some of the Saratoga points (contract #2).

Can you sell part of a contract?

No. You can sell the SSR contract and keep the BLT of course but for example if the SSR contract is 150 points you can't just sell 75 points and keep 75. You have to sell all 150 points.

I don't know. I don't think so. BUT, if you contacted a Title Company and rewrote then refiled the Title and split it, it might work. Cost to go through a Title company is probably at least $500 and maybe significantly more.

You can subdivide regular property into two or more pieces, depending on state or local rules. I don't know why you couldn't do that with your DVC contract, but Disney probably has some clause in the contract preventing that.,

lol - I'll have to try and split our house and sell half. (and yes, I know you mean parcels or things that make sense to divide) DVC can control it simply with ROFR if nothing else. I guess I've never heard of anyone trying that route but I don't recall if it's controlled in the contract somewhere. I'd guess so.

It is actually spelled out on the first page of each deed issued by DVD. If you read your deed, you will see a paragraph that states ". . . that owner, and that owner's successors in title are expressly prohibited from further dividing that undivided percentage interest. . . ."

I guess your way around this might be to just sell your SSR contract and buy matching UY BLT contract in the amount of points that you need. This might make more sense so that you have all your points at one resort and have them all available for an 11 mont booking.

Or another option is to rent out or offer for transfer (can only do one transfer per UY) some of your SSR points - use that money to pay for dues and just keep whatever points you still need to use.

Now that you mention it, I do remember reading that.

As others have stated, no you cannot. However, what people will do, is if purchasing direct, for example on a 200 point contract, you could split it into two contracts of 100 points each, which could make it more attractive for resale (smaller contracts typically fetch a higher price per point on the resale market). With that said, however, you will end up paying double the closing costs if you are splitting it into two contracts. Something to keep in mind.
