Can you sell half of your points or do you have to sell the whole contract?

I hope this isn't a silly question, but, we were wondering if we could sell 80 of our 160 points at BCV? Thanks so much!

If you have two 80 point contracts, you could sell one or both. If you have one 160 point contract, you sell it or none. Only Disney canbreak up a contract and sell parts of it.

I wonder what would happen in a Divorce situation.....would Disney have to split it up if a court decides on it....Just a question....Still Happily Married.....

Nope- just like a house, automobile or boat in a divorce situation. The property cannot be divided- it would be appraised and included in the settlement on that basis.

As others have mentioned, you would have to sell all 160 points, DVC won't split up a contract.

However, there are ways to "beat the system" in this case. You could purchase a 80 point add-on (though you might have to waitlist for awhile if you wanted it to be at BCV). Then you could sell your 160 point contract and keep the 80 pointer. If you had to finance the 80 points, you could easily sell the 160 pointer and then pay off the 80 point contract in a very short time.

Just an idea.

Now for the legalese:

1. Legally what you purchase is an interest in the real property. You can sell that interest.

2. The interest in real property you own cannot be divided and thus you must sell it as a whole. Note, if you buy an add-on, that is a separate contract and thus a separate interest in the property that can be sold by itself.

3. Legally, your points are deemed to have no monetary or property value, i.e., they are worthless but they are also deemed to represent, without any monetary value, your interest in the real property for the purpose of making reservations. In other words, your points are like what the Muslim leader said in the movie Kingdom of Heaven when Orlando Bloom surrendered Jerusalem and asked what does Jerusalem mean. The Muslim leader said, "Nothing," and then started to walk away but turned back and said, "Everything."

I love it when people think creatively. Sadly, I don't think I would have thought of this!

Several of us have - why do you think small contracts for add on - are so popular....

even with 25 points you are still a member!

but as long as I can kept renting VWL and BWV each year I will kept them - both small contracts.

the one I will definitely kept is my 50 points at OKW.

you brought up something I have been thinking of. I am waitlisted to buy 65 BCV points. I was going to then sell one of my VWL contracts (100 points) only because of this rule of selling the whole contract.
I am now considering keeping all the points and renting. Does that work comfortably for you?
