Can you sell Fastpasses?

It was an honest question. Regardless if you agree with the question posed or not. A simple, "That probably isn't the best idea." would have worked just as well. If it goes against Disney policy, then don't do it.

Well, I guess it would sound much less sincere if I posted that now, huh?? :teeth:

Last year I had three left over fast passes and waited by the ride and gave them to a family of three. They were so happy..Believe me that is payment enough.
This year I had two but we would have not made it to our dinner reservation so I looked for a party of two. A Mom and young son came, looked at the stand by line and walked away. I went up to her and asked if she could use mine. (They were for an hour away) She asked me "how much?" I was schocked, frankly. I said no charge, of course, and they were so happy. Pixie dust comes back to you! Sooner or later. ;)

Put a smile :sunny: on someone's face
and a smile ;) in your heart
give them away and feel the magic of pixie dust

I give mine away.

But I'd pay a few bucks if someone offered me FPs for Soarin' or something I wanted to ride, but couldn't because I got there late. :) And I'd be glad to get them.

I wish Disney would sell the FPs like Universal (though, of course, leave the free ones...not getting into that!)

That's actually quite sad :( I can't believe people automatically assume you want to make a profit when you're trying to help someone!

Don't know why I'm suprised though, it seems to be the society we live in these days!

I give my unused FP's away, and If I'm doing Baby Swap with DH I usually invite a couple to get in line with me too.

I'm just wondering who these people selling their stroller are. I always give mine away at the end of the day and I often have a hard time getting someone to actually take it from us for free! :teeth:

We've given them away a few times to people if we weren't going to use them. Sometimes the people I ask look at me like I am trying to give them a bag of dog poop! Anyone else have this experience? :confused3

That's why I always sell mine.
If you give them away people think your crazy.
At $5 or $6 each people think they're getting a bargain.
The most I ever got was $12 a pass for Soarin last year.
I had 4 passes and saw someone who looked rich with 3 kids.
Those passes paid for a meal in Morocco, and the guy was glad to pay it.

I always just give mine away, selling them seems kind of bizarre? :confused3

Another one here who'd just give them away.. Same with leftover metered parking tickets (like in pay and display car parks) We've been given FPs a couple of times and been so appreciative of another person's kindness :goodvibes

Ahhhh...the entrepeneurial spirit.

Sometimes, I don't eat all of my chicken fingers, and I can usually find someone to give me a dollar or two for my leftovers. I also like to get a great parade spot early on and then sell it to a family for $10. If someone needs a picture taken of their family, I am happy to do it for a trading pin or disney dollars.

My goal is to have my trip paid off by Day 4 so I don't always have to stay at the All-Star...

Oh Man! I'd love it if someone GAVE us FP's to say, EE! Or Soarin....That would be the best! :goodvibes

We were very late getting to Epcot last year and a wonderful family gave us 4 FPs for Soarin!! FPs were gone for the day and the standby line was about 6 months, lol, so we were thrilled. :woohoo:

I have had fastpasses that I could not use and have given them away. I actually had a hard time giving away fast passes for TT last year :confused3

We had trouble giving away FP to Tower of Terror once too! It was funny, like I was trying to pass on the plague or something! And I'm really not that scary looking! I ended up just setting them on top of the FP machines and leaving!

I know you couldn't possibly be serious. We handed our unused fastpasses to a family of 4 so they could ride Soarin. You should've seen the the smiles on their faces. The line was tremendously long (really, really, really, Long) and we had already ridden once and felt like spreading some pixie dust. Don't be selfish. Spread the joy. Find a deserving individual and give them your fastpasses.

:furious: Flame away - I have never ranted before but there is a first tie for everything. This just makes me personally mad.
That's just stupid. :guilty: Sorry there is no polite way to say this and I really don't care what comments I get from you or others. "looked rich" - are you serious? Let me tell you, we are no way rich (comfortable yes - rich no )but we always get a few new outfits for our Disney trips - so explain what looking rich looks like - please :confused3

If you did not pay for them and Disney is not selling them - who are you to turn a profit :furious:

As far as the people looking strange when reciding them. Those people are probably just shocked because the last idiot (not previous poster) just sold them some FP's or they have probably been riding in the standby line all day and was shocked to get these passes to ride without waiting. We always give them away, sometimes I will stand there for 10 minutes(DH yelling let's go) trying to find groups for the exact number of FP's that we have or I will just leave them on the top of the FP machine if I can't find anyone.

For anyone who is selling them just grow up.

Rant over.

LOL. YES!
Our last (and first) trip, we gave away passes to ToT...The people looked at us like we were diseased! They finally "relented" and accepted our passes, and then even smiled and thanked us.

Sell them???? No. Puhleaze. :furious: :sad2:

One more reply, and then I'm thru with this thread.

When I made the original post, here's the things that were (and weren't) on my mind:

1) Reading the UG, I noted that touring plans for both AK and Epcot call for families to send one member of their group to one side of the park (to acquire FPs), while the rest of the group goes to the other side of the park. The parties will catch up with each other later. While I see the logic in that strategy, I really don't like the idea of leaving my DW with the chore of guiding DD7 and DS4 thru an unfamiliar theme park among hordes of people without my help. (Or vice versa).

2) I read the UG's section on stroller rentals, which discusses a thriving "brown market," where people sell their rented strollers at a discount, rather than return them.

3) In the back of my mind was a thread from a few days ago about Mountain Dew, and the story of one guy saying someone offered him $20 for his contraband Pepsi.

Well, I put these notions together and I came up with the idea of buying/selling Fastpasses. This would alleviate the need to split our party and dash from one end of the park to the other, as prescribed in the UG. Besides that, imagine being able to walk into the theme park with FPs to several of your favorite rides already in hand. Could make planning easier. Personally, I'd be willing to pay a few bucks for such a service. And I figured other people might, too.

What I didn't know was that there is already a well-established method of getting rid of extra FPs: Giving them away. While technically against the rules, this is obviously a well-established tradition. Had I been to WDW recently, I probably would have already known this, but as my last visit was 9 years ago, before the days of FPs, I don't know how I could have known this information.

So, fellow DISers, rest-assured: I will not be selling any FPs. Taking a wealth of good suggestions, I will kindly give away any extra FPs that end up in my possession.

But also know that I am not a troll, nor am I "just a kid." I am but a humble dad eager to take his kids on a trip to WDW.

Since many of you are obviously interested in ways to spread "pixie dust," I will close with my own suggestion: Be considerate about the way you respond to people on the Internet. I know you can't see my face, and it's hard to judge true intent, but consider offering the benefit of the doubt. "What goes around comes around" is an idea that applies to more than just how you get rid of extra FPs.

Um, I'm pretty sure that was meant to be a joke. :smooth:
