Okay.

When my husband and I went to Disney World in September, we kept seeing the biggest spiders in the world!!!!!

They were everywhere! EEEEEWWWW! I hate spiders, and these things looked like they lived off all the little children in the parks! I'm not kidding! They were the size of large hamsters! (or bigger)

We noticed them the most in Animal Kingdom inside the bushes, on the bridges....everywhere! Are they left there to fit in with the whole African Animal theme? Are they dangerous? I surely would not want one to crawl on me!

I'm just curious as to how many of you have seen these same spiders, and if anyone knows what they are called. ANd the seasons they like to live at Disney, so we can avoid them next trip. Let me know!

Also, vote: let me know who's seen them!

Thanks,

S-

moved to a better place......good luck with your poll

I haven't seen the spiders you are talking about but I have seen tons of love bugs. YUCK

I haven't seen the spiders you're talking about. What color are they? Here in Texas we have what are commonly called "field spiders". They are harmless to humans, but YUCK. Their webs are very strong, and these shiny yellow & black creatures can easiliy grow to 3 1/2 inches in diameter. (leg tip to leg tip) There are a LOT of these spiders, as well as scorpions (seasonal) and the occasional tarantula.

No, I haven't seen them, thank God! :earseek:

I think at first I would be startled and scared, but if I could watch them for a little bit and they didn't try to eat me or something, I wouldn't mind them.

Knowing my luck, the first time I see one it'll be crawling up my arm or something.

Never saw them, but i did see a grasshopper that was easily 4 inches long and as thick as my thumb. (we only get little 1"-1 1/2" ones way up north here). It scared the heck out of my mom.

I know the bugs, etc. are big here in FL, but I have never seen ANY insect in WDW whatsoever! In fact, we marvel at how they must have some sort of magical spell on the area that keeps them away.

So, no, I don't know what you're talking about and that's how I voted...

I've never seen a single bug in WDW either. And we go in summer. I feel lucky. I am terrified of spiders! But I did almost step on a snake at Blizzard Beach. He slithered right past my foot and slid into the lazy river. Rest assured, I did not go in there anymore that day. ;)

I am really really really really wishing I had not seen this post and sincerely hoping this is a prank.

Cassie <--- terrified of spiders

I was at Disney in August last year for 2 weeks... saw one spider in our room at AKL... screamed, panicked... looked in the hall - no one there to help... thought about calling the front desk.. too embarrassed. Went back to check that the spider was in the same place - because if it was missing I would have to change rooms.

Looked in the hall again.. a man and his two kids walking by my room.. invited the man in to kill my spider.. he was sweet and my hero.. his teenage kids thought I was nuts and said they were going to tell their Mom that their Dad was in my room LOL

First of all.....I have some serious heebie jeebies now!!! First I read about the divebombing birds and now spiders that could eat kids!!

Second.....I am ROFL Kitty cat face!!! That was too funny!

Fortunately the only spider (save the spider in ITTBAB) I saw was at the Swan on my last trip. It wasn't big and a good friend of mine promptly squished it for me. I say the rest of them don't exist and if they do, I sure as heck don't want to know about them ;) :p
