I have heard of switching out adults but will they allow me to switch out the kids? My boys 5&6 are finally interested in (and tall enough for) going on rollercoasters :) yay!!! Grandma who is going with us would be happy to wait in line but unable to ride for medical reasons. Will they allow me to ride with one of my boys then swap out so I can ride with the other? Since this will be their first time I dont want to have one sit alone in front or behind us.

That's not how the swap works.

It is for guests who are too short to ride attractions.

(Although some CMs at the ride entrances MIGHT offer some "Pixie Dust" exceptions.)

Since rider swap is for those that can't ride yet and can't be left alone I don't think this will work. The reason for rider swap isn't so that no one has to ride alone but because a parent has to stay with the two small child especially since the two small child can't even be in the line so its a longer wait. An adult that can't ride Disney assumes could just wait by themselves while the three of you ride and if they choose to go through the line and take the chicken exit that is even a pretty short wait.

This isn't really what Rider Switch is designed for, but I can see your dilemma... our 4 and 6 year olds always wanted to ride with me. :) In most cases they just had to suck it up and ride with someone else... but if you're the only other adult, you don't have that option. I would think if you talked to the gatekeeper and explained what you were doing, and you actually went standby the first time, then I think they would most likely be reasonable about it.

In some cases where you load and unload at the same place, I think what you should do is all go up together, then explain to the seat assigner that you want to ride twice, once w each kid, while your mom passes across and exits. They will most likely accommodate. Be flexible and ask at each ride how to best handle it.

Also for rides which you have a fastpass, you're golden. You just go once thru w kid 1 and your band, then you go w kid 2 but you take your mom's band. So you don't really need Rider Switch since you'll have FastPasses on your mom's band.

I'm not sure this will work. Some CMs will allow it but I'm not sure they all will as that would mean having extra guests standing around on the loading platform.

This will definitely work and is probably your best solution in most cases.

If Grandma isn't going to ride, then just swap bracelets with Grandma. That way you can still use your FP+ line (assuming this is a FP+ ride)

They might, since one sitting in front or behind could be considered riding "alone" and they're too young for that. It's worth asking.

it would be worth asking at least. I will have that problem in February with rides that my motion-sick husband won't be able to ride. I won't count on anything but might as well try!

Child swap is good for up to 3 additional people plus the ticket holder. They have never asked us any questions about who they are. The magic band swap is a good idea too.

The issue is going to be getting the swap pass, since this isn't the situation swap is for.

If you can't get the swap pass, be aware that you can fit 3 across some of the rides: BTMRR and Splash Mtn. for example. But not 7DMT, Space Mtn, Exp. Everest.

(I often to go WDW with our 2 sons. Often I sit alone or with a stranger - its a bummer most at TSMM b/c we're never even seated -despite my asking - so that we are even playing the same screen together. It never occurred to me to ask for the swap pass, but try it - you never know! If your kids are small, and one doesn't care about shooting the 'gun,' you can sit 3 across at Buzz Lightyear.)

If neither can ride alone, they will allow this. If at least one of them is old enough and tall enough, there would be no need and the rider swap is not typically issued. I have always had to present the child who could not ride at all before it would be issued.

Since your boys are under age 7 and cannot ride alone and you do not have anyone in your party 14 and older who are able to ride, it should not be a problem getting a RS. We have done this when I was pregnant and could not ride.

For the speedway in Tomorrowland, you all 3 can ride and after the first lap, in the past, they have allowed the children to switch spots so each can drive.
