So its OK for the supplier to have to issue the credit?????

I worked for a supplier and its just not that easy and anymore, many supplier have stopped issuing credit for just that very reason.

I didn't say its ok. But really don't think one roast is going to make or break them. I do know they still pick up milk and dairy products and bread.

I wouldn't take it back UNLESS it was going to make a huge problem with my budget.

My parents owned a small store. You would be amazed at what people brought back and why.

OP just enjoy the meal and threaten your Dh to never do that again

I would enjoy it OP, think of it as a holiday treat, and think twice before sending DH out for errands unsupervised :rotfl:

It reminds me of a friend of mine who sent her hubby out for ham and cheese for deli sandwiches. He came back with steak and cheese wiz.

Don't ask your husband to "help" you shop anymore. Eat the meat.

Lol don't worry. I'm keeping the 'helping' to canned products from now on.

Thanks again everyone.

OMG!!! Cheese wiz??? Dying! Dying!

The store doesn't necessarily take a loss. If they don't cut the meat instore it may just be picked up by the supplier. Can't imagine why an employee would toss a canned item. Anything that cannot be sold is normally picked up for credit. Milk, bread, dairy products, frozen foods, etc are all returned to the supplier.

Not always the case. Some vendors are now getting paid for what they bring in and the company takes a loss of a percentage of those sales for spoiled/bad product and percentage is absorbed by the store for theft. The reality is anything perishible, baby formula, dented opened or expired regardless of the product is trash. We have people who buy things they have left in their cabinet past expiration but needed a new recceipt. Then they return the out of date item to the store to get a new one. Honestly, the store does not, win for any returns. Most places have a double money back garauntee. In the current economy, to keep customers a bunch of places take anything back to keep customers.

The reality is though, we gladly take things back for our customers. Regardless of the reason.

Call the store and be honest with them. See what they have to say and go from there.

OMG, I seriously never knew they throw out returned everything..but then again, stores and my dh do not go hand in hand, any type of store..:rotfl2:
