Can You Renew An Annual Pass After the Anniversary Date?

First off, let me apologize if this is in the wrong area.

I allowed my DH's AP to expire on April 9th. Well, he decided we should take a trip in 2 weeks. Can I pay the renewal fee and have his AP activated (obviously keeping the April 9th start date)?

Or since it is past the date do I have to buy a new one?

Thanks!!

You may want extra confirmation, but I believe there's a month-long window from your anniversary date that you can renew. It will expire on your anniversary date, not the date of renewal.

But like I said, I'm not sure - so you may want to wait for some extra clarification.

There is a grace period but I am not sure how long it is. Best option is to call the passholder number (407) 560-7277 and inquire as to your options.

We had a 30 day grace period on ours....but I would call just to make sure. And make sure to get the persons name and the date that you called, just in case there is any issue about the grace period when you renew them.

I tried to renew my December AP in March, three months after it expired. I was told I could renew it, but the expiration date would still be December.

Sincerely,

You have 30 days after expiration to renew your annual pass. I know because I've done it ;)

Disney used to offer a standard 30 renewal window on either side of your expiration date. In October 2000, they changed both the way renewals took effect (no more renewal voucher that would allow the renewed pass to start when the voucher was turned in) and the official written wording of AP renewal policy. They tightened one area and opened up another.

The written policy, which is the same as you now see on your renewal letters you get in the mail, says you must renew by your expiration date to get the renewal rate.

In actual practice, the renewal will still be done with no questions asked for the 30 days following expiration. The renewal will of course be back dated to the prior expiration date.

The area they opened up is the discretion of the Guest Relations CM in doing renewals past the thirty day mark. As Len stated above, you can now find a CM who will allow you to renew several months after your expiration even though the renewal will still be back dated. That would never happen under the old policy. But it is up to the CM to make the determination of merit on the late renewal. It is not automatic.

I can tell you the (407) 560-PASS number is strictly hotel & dining resvs now. I tried it several times and was told they did not renew AP passes and that I should call the pass phone number. Told them I had to which they stated I needed to hit the ticket option which was not listed when I called. Finally got a fax number but havent heard anything.

Interesting, this is the 2nd year in a roll I have ordered my renewal vouchers a few months before my renewal notice actually came in (before a price increase) and have gone to WDW to activate that voucher a little over a month after the pass actually expired. The CM told me that I it was okay that I was past the one month time frame because I had the voucher. The interesting part though is that the voucher is in no way connected to me or my pass. When I call to order, they don't ask my pass number or anything. Anyone could take that voucher and use it along with their annual pass to renew. So they don't really know when I purchased it.

when you ordered these vouchers did you pay the lower renewal fee?
also it could be that the annual pass numbers are already associated with you in the computer, so since they have your name they know what you have.

Yes, I did get the renewal price. I also got the Disney Club renewal prices since I ordered the Vouchers on December 31st. When I ordered the vouchers, they asked how many adult and how many childeren I needed, that is how I know they were not associated with my old passes.

Terry S:
They certainly do know who got your renewal voucher. Just because you don't see anything doesn't mean it isn't there. The renewal voucher number has been entered into your record in the ATS computer system. They don't need your pass number to do that, only your name and address which you had to give them to get the voucher sent to you.

The previous info I posted in this thread applied to people who were paying to renew their AP, not to people who already had their renewal voucher in hand. Once you have the renewal voucher in hand, you can wait 11 months to exchange it if you really wanted to. The clock started ticking at your old expiration date so you would only get one month out of your renewed AP by waiting the 11 months... but you can wait that long if you wanted to.

The 407-560-PASS number is answered by CRO/WDTC :( If you need to speak to someone about a ticket issue, ask them to transfer your call to Guest Relations.

Thanks for the replies.

The date on my hubby's pass is April 9th. We will be down there May 13th. If I call to renew now over the phone, I don't think the voucher will make it in time.

Can I renew at the gate when we get down there? Will the renewal price be more at the gate? (anybody know how much?)

Thanks!
