...you bought yourself?

The first 7" vinyl record I ever bought was Let's Dance by Chris Montez. Still have the original copy upstairs! :)

The first record I ever bought was "Rhinestone Cowboy" Glenn Campbell...ooh...I think that shows my age! LOL Kathy ;)

WOW ! Chris Montez, I haven't thought of that singer in ages.....but I do remember "The More I See You." My first official purchase with my own money - the double album of Tommy by the Who. Now you all know how old I am!!!

I think my first records were:

Pyromania by Def Leppard
Stay Hungry by Twisted Sister
Out of the Cellar by RATT
Metal Health by Quiet Riot

Pretty good selection isn't it.

The first 45 I bought myself was Centerfold by J Giles. Did i even spell that right?? Gosh, that seems like forever ago.

The Partridge Family's "I Think I Love You".

Oddly enough, I still like that song. :)

First album that I bought with my own money: In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly
First 45RPM single that I bought with my own money: Lady Godiva by Peter & Gordon
First CD: (I can't remember, but there weren't many available when I bought my CD player back in 1982)
First prerecorded videotape: Xanadu (starring Olivia Newton John)
First Laserdisk: Xanadu (do you see a pattern???)

And yes, I ended up buying Xanadu on DVD when it was released. When I was in high school, I used to buy prerecorded reel-to-reel tapes. I even joined the Columbia House tape club just to have access to more 7" tapes. I still have the tapes, but nothing to play them on. I assume that the tapes are probably no good by now with lots of print through and oxide shedding.

I can truthfully say that I have NEVER purchased a prerecorded cassette tape. I've seen too many tapes eaten by car cassette players. I'd rather buy the album/CD and make my own tape.

My first 45 rpm was "All Right Now" by Free. I think I was around 9 or 10 years old!

Album was probably Donny Osmond!

8 Track was Toys In The Attic by Aerosmith. (I'm dating myself here, aren't I!)

Cassette/CD I have no clue!

first DVD: X-Men(1 disc)

first 2 disc DVD: Moulin Rouge

CD: Clueless soundtrack

First Album I bought myself was in 1969, The Beatles ~ Abbey Road :)

I didn't actually purchase it, but the first album that I ever asked for was "Meet the Beatles".

8 Track was Toys In The Attic by Aerosmith. (I'm dating myself here, aren't I!)

I had this 8 track too! DH (who at the time was BF) loved that song Big Ten Inch and we had to listen to it every day for months. :teeth: :p Ah, the joys of remember those teenaged years. :p

First Vinyl I purchased for my self was Elton John Goodbye Yellow brick Road Album...I think I paid like 5$ for it!

It is still one of my favs...

Holycow

First 45 RPM record - "I Want To Hold Your Hand" - The Beatles

First 33 RPM record - "Beatles '65" - The Beatles

First 8 track tape - "Pisces Aquarius Capricorn and Jones, Ltd" - The Monkees

AAHHH! Those were the days!!!

Oh wow - the first 45 I bought with my own money was "Keep on Singing" by Helen Reddy - yikes, I was about 8 years old. The first vinyl LP was actually the Camelot soundtrack - my parents took me to see it as a real little kid, and I loved the songs - I don't think I paid for that one though - I was about 4. The first LP I bought myself was probably "Rumors" by Fleetwood Mac.

The first CD I bought was "Big" by Yes.

The funny thing is, I still have all the vinyl, but I don't have that CD anymore.

My first LP was "Portrait of Donny" by Donny Osmond - i still have it.
My first single was "Crocodile Rock" by Elton John

First 7 inch vinyl I bought was the Beatles Love Me Do/P.S. I Love You. It was .77 at Woolworths.:D I have subsequently purchased every Beatles (including solo) release for the past 39 years.:)

Another "Toys in the Attic" person here. Except I had the cassette tape.

Big ten inch...I had completely forgotten about that song!!!

LOL!!!
