With all the walking, what really is better.....
Crocs or good walking shoes and socks ???
If Crocs, Do you wear footie sox with crocs or just bearfoot ???

Thanks, I have 9 days left to pack and getting nervous !!

:listen:   :sunny:

I know you'll get different responses to this question but, for me, I'm good in a pair of crocs for about four or five hours of non-stress strolling. For serious walking, I want good walking sneaks and socks.

I wear my crocs at work for eight hours without any problems so I thought I would be fine at Disney. However I took my DD5 Trick or Treating and after 2 hours of constant walking my feet were killing me. I will now be taking walking shoes with me to DL.

I wore my Crocs for several days at WDW last fall- I did fine in them, but I would still suggest bringing 2 or even 3 pairs of good, reliable shoes for walking around in.

I find that ANY shoes aren't so comfy if you have to wear them day after day. Being able to rotate between several pairs of broken in, comfy shoes is the key to my feet staying happy at WDW.

We had lots of rain, as well, and walking around in wet shoes is no fun (Crocs dry out fast, but tennies or leather/suede sandals stay pretty waterlogged for days in the FL humidity).

Bring Crocs, walking shoes, and walking sandals, and you should be good for your whole trip! Have fun!!

My first day at Disney in my Crocs Athens (the flip flops) last May my feet and legs started to hurt half way through the day and I thought I would need to start wearing my sneakers for the rest of the trip. For whatever reason, I decided to try my Crocs again the next morning, and it was seriously like walking on air. I had no blisters, no arch pain, no shin splints, and NO lower back pain (I always get severe lower back pain when I walk all around the World in my sneakers). So I definitely recommend wearing your Crocs the whole trip, but it's different for everyone - so try it out one or two days, but bring sneakers as a back up.

We alternated wearing our crocs and tevas. My ds likes his crocs a lot and wore those a few days in a row at WDW, and didn't have any problems with it.

You should always bring at least 2 different styles of shoes. That way, if you get a blister you can change styles and the shoe that caused the blister will not be rubbing against the sore spot.

Here's my recent experience! I bought my Crocs and was so excited. They felt great and I wore them with and without socks (on cold days) for a couple of weeks before we went to WDW in October. I even wore them for the first three days at Disney THEN the blisters appeared!!!!!!!

Disappointment! Sadness! :confused3

I was in agony. Using my best Boy Scout first aid skills I had to pop several blisters that were in critical areas etc. and bandage them just so I could hobble around the 4th day.

And I put on my good, old, reliable tennis shoes with cushy socks! After that I wore nothing but tennies!

But before the blister bonanza my feet were extremely comfortable, never hurt and were cool and comfortable! Unlike my tennis shoes, my feet never overheated! And it was super easy to get through TSA airport security!

Now my Crocs are assigned to the back of my closet for gardening, painting and maybe shower wear!

I probably should have alternated shoes from the start also! Duh!!!!

Sorry you had such a bad experience with yours :( I wouldn't put them in the back of the closet though! I've never been to Disney, but I imagine the amount of walking you do there is nothing compared to a normal day back at home. I've worn mine all day out shopping and have had no issues. I will be sure to bring sneakers as well as my crocs when I go though.

I also ended up with horrifying blisters, after a day or so. HORRIFYING. :guilty:

And since I hadnt brought anything else but flip flops for walking around the hotel room, I wore those flip flops to a park to give my blistered tootsie's a breather.

HUGE MISTAKE!

I then got blisters on the balls of the bottom of my feet, in addition to the Croc's toe blisters - on both feet! I wanted to DIE! I could-not-walk-at-all!!!ThankGOD I stuck leftover Vicodin's in my suitcase "just in case" - I flew through those in a couple days. :guilty:

So, I was drugged up, hobbling around Disney. :sad2:

Then I went to Universal and while walking through CityWalk came across some store that sold CROCS - so I bought a really large size, and wore those the rest of the trip. Once I got the really big ones, I was okay...other then the leftover blisters.

I dont know - some people love them (and I still do), some people dont. I never had any problems with them previously, but Im telling you blisters in Disney isnt fun.

Theyre really light weight shoes, just bring them, along with something else.

When I get blisters, I ALWAYS use Band Aid Blister Relief (you can get them at any grocery store). I used to be a ballet dancer, and after 6 hours a day in pointe shoes 5 days a week, let me tell you, these things work MIRACLES! They're big, cushy, gel-like band aids, and when you put them on your blisters you don't think that they could possibly work that well or take away the pain. Within five minutes of having them on your feet and walking around they 'warm up' and mold to your feet - you can walk around in ANY shoe at all and it doesn't feel as if there is anything wrong with you feet. I even had my friend at Disney last year and she had a blister ripped open by her sneakers, put the Blister Relief on, and by the time we got from our room to the elevator she couldn't feel a thing. So, make sure you bring some with you on all of your trips - they are the best!

Has anyone seen somewhere in the UK to buy the new Disney style Crocs?

CathrynRose - Oh-My-Goodness!!!! I can just picture you walking around in your flip flops with those poor sore tootsies crying out in pain! And then more blisters on the bottom!!!!! You were one hurtin' girl! :sad2:

I really expected to get blisters on the soles of my feet too but mine were on the sides of my heel and on my toes.

One thing I never do when I'm going to WDW that I'm sure many women do is I never get a pedicure!!! I learned from hiking that callouses toughen your feet and protect them so I leave my feet covered pretty much and ugly!

I think some of the blisters that women get at WDW is from the new soft pedicured skin being exposed to all that walking! JMO.

I guess it depends on your feet. I've been able to wear mine all over the parks with no problems. Any other shoes will make my feet hurt after walking awhile. I do wear socks with the Aspens, but not with the Beach style.

My feet blister very easy. I have worn many different shoes and even trying switching shoes every other day. I suffer from a heel spur as well. It is like walking around with a peeble stuke on your heel.
Our trip last may was during warm days and I worn either the Nile sandal or the caymans without socs and I never once has blisters and I was in them from 7:00 inthe morning until around 3 each day then back out around 6:00 pm until 11:00 most days. Nothing has ever worn so well as Crocs. :sunny:

Hubby is even wearing them to work in all day in his barber shop. :thumbsup2

Just thought I would chime in.

You really won't know until you get there and try! So I agree with everyone else, and bring both and alternate. See what works for you! My own personal experience was that I wear Crocs when I'm on my feet all day at work and at home, but it was different with the intense amount of walking you do each day at WDW. I liked my Crocs, but liked my tennis shoes better. I started out with Crocs with socks since I wanted to use Body Glide, and as the day progressed and warmed up, I took the socks off. They were good, just not great. I say it almost everytime I post, no matter what shoes you wear, if you use Body Glide you shouldn't get blisters. Good luck and happy feet!

Okay, here's what I did shopping yesterday for upcoming WDW vacay.....
I bought a new pair of CROCS ( just the regular kind ) AND I bought some Nike Air Womens Walking Shoes too (which I will start breaking in all week). Sound okay??, then maybe a pair of nicer sandals for dinners out.

NOW, what the heck are TIVAS????

:wave2: :boat: :thanks: :sail: :tilt:

Thanks for this info as I apprecizate anything as I'm sure after a few days of walking someone from my family will have a blister that will need treatment
