which pools are we able to do this at?
i heard there is a list of pools not on the list
but do you have to be staying on points or can you pay cash and still use the dvc perks?
we're going in the summer but it's a last minute short trip and we're paying cash.
we've never pool hopped before and might not but i just wonder if the option is there
the pools at YC/BCV (all of them, not just SAB), BLT and AKV are off limits for pool hopping.

What is drc?
Per MS website:
Pool Hopping InformationPlease check with a Host or Hostess at the Front Desk of the resort hotel you wish to visit before you go to find out about pool-access availability.

Per my earlier post, I can with almost 100% certainty guarantee that anyone here who actually follows that policy (either face to face or over the phone) will end up with one thing: a clueless, confused, dumbfounded "front deck host/hostess" who will subsequently say "I need to check." Said CM will then disappear (or put you on hold) for 5-10 minutes and eventually return. At that point you will hear various forms of blather that basically translate into "uh...er...I tried to find out the answer to your question...uh...er...well.....the pool staff may know....perhaps you can go down there....uh....er...have a magical day...uh..."![]()
Technically, when pool hopping the DVC member is supposed to be prepared to show I.D. (either their DVC membership card or their resort key card which will say "DVC MEMBER" below their name) when arriving at the "hopped" pool.
That stated, over the course of dozens of "hops" during a decade of DVC membership, there has not been a single time when we were asked for this. In fact, early on we would be courteous and actually call the resort we planned to hop to before arriving, just to make sure the pool "wasn't at capacity." We stopped doing that once it became clear said calls were a complete waste of time (CMs could never get an answer to the question and in most cases didn't even understand why we were asking).
I could even take that last tangent into a some entertaining discussion about the so-called "hopping blackout" periods...but won't...![]()
We've only hopped once, and not only got carded, but they insisted on the blue DVC member card, and the room key. It was the Poly pool, it was busy, and we were obviously not Poly guests (i.e. we had all our clothes and park stuff with us).
Interesting - we've hopped to the Poly several times and didn't have that experience. Perhaps it was because we didn't arrive on the deck in street clothes (we changed in that area underneath and behind the Volcano before going poolside, so I guess we looked just like any other Poly guests by the time we were approaching the water). "Busy" is relative at that pool, because of it's relatively small size and the way it's enclosed in the landscaping it doesn't take very many people in and around the pool to make it feel "active."
Kurby, you can se a little bit of Wishes from the shallow end of the Poly pool, but the least obstructed view is down on the beach.
