Can you please explain the Emerald Reserve service to me?

I feel really stupid...but I can't get it!

We reserved an SUV for our trip in October. I understand that when we arrive we can bypass the line and go to the lot (are there signs for this?) and choose our vehicle. Then I get confused. Is there an attendant who will check our ID's and give us the keys? When we return the car do we need to go to the counter or do we just get a receipt and are on our way? I'm confused how to actually get the car from there and back to there...

Any help would be very appreciated!

Yes, you bypass the counter and follow the signs to National. Once you are at National, each aisle has a sign so look for the SUV aisle.

Pick one. The keys will be in the car. Load it up and head to the booth. At the booth they will ask for your driver's license and credit card and any coupon you may have used.

Then you are good to go.

When you return, follow the rental car/National signs. Follow the signs that say returns. Pull up and get out and unload and the attendant will check the milage on this little handheld gadget and give you a receipt and then you are on your way.

You will not have to go to the counter either time unless there is a problem with your total or if you rent a carseat.

Be sure to check that total they give you on the receipt. Our plane was delayed several hours, so we picked up our car after midnight, and when I dropped it off, the total was much higher than my reservation. I did have to go to the counter inside the garage, show him my original confirmation, and have it fixed.
