Can you pay your charge bill "in advance"?

I am going to do my best to avoid adding any charges to by credit card on our next two-week trip to WDW in June, 2005.:o Here's the plan: I am going to take enough cash for what is usually our daily expenses for the two weeks. Can I pay what I know will be the least we will spend up front as a credit on my room account when I check in? That way I don't have to worry about something happening to my cash, and I'll have the convenience of using my resort card to "charge" purchases instead of keeping up with cash each day. Anyone ever do this?

There might be some new cast members that might tell you otherwise, but the answer is YES! You can!

Instead of it being a "charging" system, it then becomes more of a "debit" system.

There are two ways to activate the charging privledges... if you place a credit card on file for Express Checkout, it automatically activates charging privledges. If you have cash on account, it takes from the cash before charging to the card.

Without a credit card on file, the CM has to go in and manually activate the charging privledges as they cut the keys. Still an easy thing to do, but very easily overlooked, especially since the cash thing is done after the keys are cut.

When you get the keys, just make sure they do not say "Not Valid For Charging" -- if they do not have that phrase, and are blank, they are good to go.

Thanks Chip 'n Dale Express. I would go ahead and put a credit card on file for any charges over the debit amount. I'm just planning for that to be minimal. That way I won't have to hassle with trying to get the cash back that was unused, and I can still utilize express check-out.

Sounds like a good plan - now if I can just pull it off!:o

What I do is mail a check for the amount that I think I may spend to my credit card company for the card I am carrying. By the time it shows up as a payment, I have already charged to the card, but incur no interest as I "prepaid" it. Saves me from having to carry a lot of cash to Florida.

Good luck and have a great trip, whatever you decide to do.
