call them (uo) for the accounting departments phone number.
you can make arrangements with them on paying more in advance.

they will explain how you can prepay.

you're welcome, i just wanted to help you with the info.

i have done the prepay before and i talked to accounting.
they sent me a form which i completed and then made payments.

it is nice to have a big part of the trip paid for in advance!

if you call reservations, they will give you the number you need to call.
sometimes they can transfer your call to them.

Like Mac said, i like to have it paid in advance and with usually some extra on room account to cover spends when we are there

Do they send the form snail mail or thru email & I email it back?

I prepaid for my stay at RPR so I wouldn't have to worry about it. I just like having to bring spending(fun) money with me.
They sent me the form via email and then I faxed all the info back to them.

Oh quick question regarding room account. We already pre paid for everything last month for our trip in July. RPR room, 2 Universal giftcards for both kids with their spending money already uploaded in it, 3 day park tickets and Blue Man Group tickets. Only thing to pay for now is food and anything for the adults. Can we put all the spending money for restaurants and gifts on room account now in advance and then just use our room key to pay for everything when we're there? I would much rather have it all paid for and not have to worry about anything later.

Just put your money on a card and give that card number at checkin for room charging.

Good idea, thank you!

You can do either a prepaid visa or use a spare check card account. If we don't bring a bunch of cash we did the visa to pay for the room only at checkin last year.

I like paying for everything up front but instead of figuring out how to pay them directly put it away in a separate account, this is what we do. We have a dedicated fun/vacation account.

Here is something I ran into this last week. They will pre-charge $200 per night booked against any card you have on file at the front desk. This is to cover any room-charged items such as in-park purchases, room service or mini bar charges. I found this out today while reviewing our CC online statement. It was explained to us with a quick call to the hotel. This charges DOES NOT show up on your checkout statement! So, if you are using a checking account debit card there is the possibility of overdraft fees! We stayed for five nights, so this added a one thousand dollar additional charge to our CC. They said that it should drop off after "a few days" if no charges were made against the room.

Just wanted you to be aware of this.

Do they place the $200 per night hold even if you have entirely paid off your reservation prior to check in? Seems a bit excessive....

This is why I pay cash or pre paid gift card at checkin and no room charging. Maybe if you tell them that it's a checking account have them place a hold on whatever amount you set aside.

When you pay upfront and no room charging there will be no money held.

That is what I have done on cruises, at Disney, and at Marriott hotels - paid cash and used no credit. Marriott and cruises asked for some cash deposit - and returned any I did not use.. Because I did not charge, or allow charging to room, entire deposit was returned. Hopefully this will/can work the same at Universal resorts.

Update

Now, it has just gotten stranger. I have been religiously checking our CC balance to see if the extra $1,000 would disappear as promised. It did, in a strange way. The ENTIRE bill has disappeared. It was in the pending transactions, and now - nothing. That is just plain weird. Pretty soon the CC company will be bugging me about carrying too much of a credit balance. We paid the entire projected amount to the card before we left (along with room for incidentals). I wonder what happened?

Strange! We were at RPR last week and did not have anything extra charged to our credit card. I left it for them to charge the rest of the room and parking fees but told them I did not want to allow room charging. Nothing ever showed up on my credit card except the rest of the room fee and parking charges. I never did see a hold for anything else. I just paid the card off yesterday and nothing else ever showed up as pending either.:confused3

I finally took off a day & paid the extra fee for the 5th person which they took ASAP so that should be paid in full. I hope they don't add any holds bc that will mess me up down the line.

The room charges (only) re-posted on our CC account today.

Balance has been restored to the universe.
