Can you order something else at a buffet?

We would really like to try O'Hana, but my DS11 won't eat anything there. If they would bring him something else or not charge and we could get him something later that would be fine, but I cannot see paying $25+ for him to sit there and watch us eat. Any ideas?

My ds, 6yrs, was able to order a hotdog & fries (they brought this out from Kona restaurant next door to Ohana) but was still charged the children's price for dinner at Ohana.

Really, there's pretty plain fare to eat there, like plain chicken and steak. But, I have seen them bring out the standard kid's "junk" meals -- nuggets or hot dogs. They charge the full price for those meals -- not a very good value for your money, but if you have a really fussy kid, I guess it might be worth it. We told our DD to just try it and see how it was and didn't have any problems.:)

I agree with this! My 9 year old is what I consider to be an extremely picky eater, but he does like meat. He was fine at Ohana, and ate all the meat. He didn't touch the veggies or the potatoes, but ate his weight in meat and shrimp! Oh, and the ice cream that comes with the dessert!;)

Just be aware that it may depend on your server. We ate there last June with our VERY picky seven year old and the server would not bring him anything different. I'll admit, I expected to be able to get him something based on everything I had read on here that people had been able to do that, but we were not allowed to, regardless of what I was willing to pay. We paid his full price and he ate one bite of the chicken. One bite. Lucky for us, he is still considered a child, so his price wasn't that high and I bought him a meal at Casey's after we left and got back to Magic Kingdom. Just be aware and don't count on being able to get anything different for him.

I've never seen a printed menu there, so it may vary day to day based on your waiter, the chefs, the crowds, etc. IMO, if you have a picky eater, you are much better off at a buffet than a family-style meal. There are so many more choices at the buffets. We love:lovestruc 'Ohana though, and go each time we're at WDW.

Thanks everyone. I have looked at the menu and some pics and the only things I think he will try is the bread and the shrimp. I am still undecided on what to do. I will ask when I call to make the ressie and see if they can put it on the reservation to get him something else.

It should be noted that even if the OP is able to get something off-menu for her son it would likely still be at the adult-meal price (since he's an adult for Disney dining price purposes) - even if all he gets is a grilled cheese sandwich.

When we've taken our neice to Ohana we've always been able to order a "kids" meal (she is under 10). We've been offered the choice to pay a kids meal price or the regular child's price. If we pay the regular Ohana price the waitress will bring out whatever she wants - another grilled cheese - more fries - a PB&J instead AND she could eat anything from the Ohana offerings as well. This is the option we chose so she could try whatever she wanted.

We to had heard that the "kids" meals came from Kona but our waitress said that wasn't true. I had asked for a child's menu and she said they didn't have one. I said, couldn't we just use the one from Kona? and she said, "no, we cook our own kids meals in our own kitchen"

They will provide alternate "kid food" but you will not be permitted to have him at the table without purchasing a meal. This may be permitted at a la carte restaurants, but not at a fixed-price family style all you can eat.

Ive gotten my son
PB J sandwiches and French Fries, No Problem

My neice has gotten hot dogs too..

Only issue was how long it took to get a PBJ from them..
