Can you order off menu at Character meals

While at DL this week my mom discovered there was a breakfast menu available ala cart at the buffet character meals. It was much less expensive and was plated becuase she does not eat much at buffets a CM suggested she order off menu does anyone know if you can do that at any of the DW character meals? The characters still came to the table but it was quite a bargain for her. Thanks!

Paradise Pier PCH grill and Grand califorian Storytellers Cafe

I can confirm this for the Storyteller's Cafe (DLR's Grand Californian). DW and I had breakfast there a few weeks ago and were able to order from a menu in place of the buffet. We've never asked about this at WDW, but we will when we go in September.

I called CRO and the dining line they do not list ala cart menu for several buffets at WDW but concierge staff at the POLyY said it could be availabe and to ask the server at each place so I will but I wondered if anyone has done it.

wdwrich did they offer you the menu or did you have to ask for it? My mom was told by a hotel CM never offered menu-

The server at Storyteller's Cafe asked us when we were seated if we wanted the buffet or a menu. This has never happened to us at WDW, but as I mentioned previously, I'll investigate when we go in September.
Anyone else have this option at WDW?

The only breakfast at WDW that ever offered a choice (that I can think of) was Yacht Club Galley.

The chefs will accomodate special dietary needs at the character meals with advance notice, but you'll still be charged full adult price.

You can order off the menu at Gulliver's Grill at the Swan. A few years ago we had breakfast with Goofy (and I'm not sure who else) and dinner with Timon and Rafiki. We especially enjoyed the dinner, as we were the only patrons in the restaurant, and had Timon and Rafiki exclusively to ourselves.
