I know this was discussed previously, and I thought I read that the tickets had to be purchased at the gate to get the discount. I would hate to leave any segment of our vacation to chance- what if the party is sold out for the date we wish to attend? Can the tickets be purchased prior to the trip with the AP discount applied?

This discount if off same day purchase tickets. I guess you have to decide if the 25% discount is worth the piece of mind for you. There were only a few dates that sold out last year (the 29th and 31st). Hope this helps.

This is the FIRST year this discount is being offered. No one knows how they're going to handle it. It says to go to the AP website after June 5 for more info.

The DIS has obtained the dates from someone at WDW. They are located here.

They are September 30, October 2, 4, 7, 11, 13, 16, 18, 21, 23, 25, 27, 28, 30, 31

See I am curious to see how it will all go to. I swear the way I read it is that you can purchase them in advance (say May 1st if they come out that day) and you get the 25% off the day of price (which would be like 40 something) and not the 25% off the advance purchase price, but still can have them in your hot little hands in advance.

I guess its going to be a wait and see thing. AND I can also see that some people will be able to do it while others won't because of miscommunication and this is new for the cast members too.

Do you have to buy these tickets in advance? We will be there on Sept. 30 and last year we missed it.

It's hard to say but I doubt the first few parties will sell out (except maybe Fridays due to the locals). Last year the last two definitely sold out early on.

This is sort of what it says, I have my MM right here...

<<Another new Passholder perk is that you can now enjoy a 25% discount on tickets to Disney's NOJ, MNSSHP and MVMCP. The discount is available on select nights, based on availability, and applies to "Day-of" admission price only. It does not apply to "Advance Sales" admission price. Visit disneyworld.com/passholder beginning June 5, 2005 for more information.>>

Clear as mud huh? It doesn't say you can or can't purchase in advance, only says it will not be given off the advance price. What is the difference in Day of and Advance price?

Also, what do you suppose will happen if you haven't activated your AP yet? I will have my vouchers in advance, but will not Activate them until we arrive in October.

Yep, clear as mud pretty much describes it ;)

I guess it is a wait and see type thing when they go on sale. I don't know though about unactivated AP's.

I know that by running the numbers for MVMCP (which tends to be a little bit higher), and these were just estimates: If you were able to take that 25% off the day of price and buy them in advance you would save between 4-6 dollars (4 for kids and about 6 for adults) per ticket than if you just bought them at the advanced price. So for my family lets say the advanced price for all tickets was 100 then the 25% off the day of price would be 80.

Its all really confusing ;) I am really at a debate, I am pretty sure that if they don't let me have the 25% off the day of price when they go on sale (May-June timeframe) then I will 90% get them anyway using the advance purchase price so I know that I have them and can start planning.

No, every Friday night party, especially Colombus day weekend, sold out, along with the last 2 nights. Other than that the others did not. CMs get to buy discounts tickets, but those are on the slow nights (Sundays and Tuesdays), those are the tickets we usually get--but not at a big savings.

This is from the Mickey Monitor:

So we just don't know if you can only buy them the day of, or if you can buy over the phone with a activated AP number for 25% off the full price. Maybe you might be able to log into the passholder website and buy them through there, since you can do that now to renew your pass, once you log in. Guess I'll be visiting the website on June 5 to compare prices.
