Can you modify a waitlist?

Short version - Can you modify a waitlist or do you have to cancel and create a new one? Or can you call to get it changed without losing your spot in the first come first serve line?

Long version - I just made my first DVC reservations, well member services did, for my home resort BWV, in a Garden/Pool view (boardwalk view not available). She actually made 2 reservations, Sept. 8 -11 and 11-18, since she showed a Boardwalk view would be available if I modified the next day for all of the 11-18 leg. It wasn't, BUT the 8-11th was now available with the Boardwalk view so I modified those dates and then cancelled the waitlist for those dates. Now this morning I checked again and still nothing for the 11-18th with a Boardwalk view but now the boardwalk view is available for the first reservation PLUS another day, so I modify that to the 8-12th - Boardwalk view.

So now the remaining boardwalk view waitlist I only need for the 12th - 18th and it is currently for the 11th - 18th but I don't see anywhere to modify those dates. Do I call to do that or do I just cancel and start a new waitlist?

You can’t modify, but can do a new one. Since it’s a different number of days, where you are in line for the original doesn’t matter.

Waitlists are all or nothing so, if the two days open up you’d be ahead of the 3 day you had.

That is why shorter waitlists have a better chance than long ones.

Just cancel and redo!

Are you using your other waitlist for anything?

Like @Sandisw mentioned smaller waitlists have a better change of matching. You could waitlist 9/12 - 9/15 and 9/15 - 9/18. Two, three night waitlists would have a better chance at matching than a single, six night waitlist.

Well I am pretty sure someone is walking reservations there as I have been able to modify the first leg to add 2 nights of boardwalk view (1 night each or the past 2 days). Hopefully I can continue to keep that up but to answer your question, I am just using the 1 waitlist which has obviously gotten shorter the past 2 days. I will check in the morning to see what has opened and possible split that waitlist into 2. Thanks for the info!
