Can you make ADR just for coffee or dessert?

i would like to know if I can book an ADR just for dessert ( late evening) or mid afternoon just for coffee and the kids get milkshakes, something like that? Or would that be a No-No?

Are you on the dining plan? Or are you paying OOP. I would think that would be an ok thing to do at certain places because they have awesome deserts/milkshakes, but other places I think would be a no no, lol...The places where I can see that being ok would be The Plaza in Magic Kingdom, Be Our Guest if you are doing breakfast (since their breakfast prices are so outrageous!), Sci Fi Dine In Theater at Hollywood Studios...my husband got a milkshake from them last year and he LOVED it! Epcot there are soooo many different CS places that I would just get something quick from there and get a seat along the lake which could be nice. In Animal Kingdom there aren't too many table service places, but out of all of them possibly Rainforest cafe might be a good option. As for resort restaurants I think your best options would be Kona Cafe at the Poly and Beaches & Cream at beach club

If you are just looking for coffee and something quick for the kids you might be better off at a quick service location or something like Beaches & Cream. Depending on where you are that could be the best option. If you do book something I don't see an issue with it and have heard other people doing the same thing.

Unless a restaurant is buffet or prix fixe, there is no statement in any of the terms & conditions that say you must order everything.

People frequently book late desserts at Be Our Guest in the evening, sushi and wine at Cali Grill, anything at Beaches & Cream, sit-down for ice cream at the TS Plaza, etc. This is part of the ebb and flow of server assignment and they all know this.

Since you made a point of saying you were looking at off times, I think it's just fine, and certainly isn't rude. And you aren't tying up a needed table. You're ordering the food you want, consuming it, and leaving, allowing the server to turn over the table relatively quickly for the next guest.

Hardly the same thing as a family coming in at prime time, splitting a meal or 2 amongst themselves, ordering water, and then camping out for hours waiting for Illuminations. Now THAT'S rude.

I personally think it's rude to tie up a table at a TS restaurant for just coffee and dessert. Plenty of other people think it's just fine.
I'm a server and I completely disagree.

I do think it's rude to camp out at a table (unless you tip very well,) but sitting for 20 minutes or so while having coffee and dessert is perfectly fine.

Thanks guys. We were thinking about The Plaza or Beaches and Cream. Nothing like a coffee and dessert break! We would never "camp out" though. We are commando RD to park close kind of people who have to get back out there lol.

Well said. I was a server for years, back when we were "waitresses". You take what you get, and it all evens out in the end.

If you want to enjoy dessert and coffee, that is perfectly fine.

LOL! Be sure to set an ADR fo both and you will be good to go!

I think that sounds great.

My dmil loves her coffee & cake breaks-
Which are ordinarily from a window or quick service.

think I shall be arranging some planned ts stops on our future trips.

Obviously a buffet restaurant would be a no go-
Is there anywhere else in the parks to avoid?

Anywhere in parks or resorts to avoid?
We would book at off peak times also.

I actually plan on doing this on our next trip. We wanted to eat at BOG, but had trouble getting any time slot. We were looking for either lunch or dinner. Finally, secured a spot for 8:25pm, which is a little late for dinner for us. But since I knew we wanted to eat there (there are four of us) I decided to keep the reservation and do drinks and dessert. I see nothing wrong with this. Although, we will not be doing a full dinner, we do still plan to tip 20% as that is my standard amount. In no way, shape, or form would I ever camp out for hours at one table nor do I think that is acceptable. I know servers work for tips and I think that is just plain rude. But having dessert and a few drinks is perfectly acceptable, especially when you have to make a reservation at BOG as you could never do a walk-up. Do whatever makes your trip enjoyable!

I actually was also thinking about doing BOG for wine and dessert. Only place in MK that you can have wine (at least that Disney knows about).

At certain places & at off times I think it's perfectly acceptable. We have a 9:40 pm after Illuminations reservation at Beaches & Cream for ice cream.on our next trip. I doubt many people would be eating full meals at this late hour so I suspect they are used to late night dessert ADRs here.

Just be aware that even with ADRs you may have a bit of a wait to be seated. Both of the restaurants you mentioned are small and don't really have any off time to speak of. If they are open, they are busy.

In a side note, it is only 7 am and now I have a horrible craving for some ice cream!
