Can you make 2 ADR's at the same time?

I'll preface this by saying I'm not being greedy wanting to hoard reservations at multiple restaurants....

We are going to WDW in November and for most of the trip there will be 5 of us. The last 2 days, there are 8 of us. I'm having a challenge getting reservations for 5 - much less 8 - at any decent restaurants. I was wondering if I'd have more luck splitting the reservations up into 2 parties of 3 + 2 and later in the trip 2 parties of 4 + 4. I'm not so concerned about our tables always being next to each other. Would rather just get some decent restaurants booked at "normal" dining times (we'll have 2 little ones with us so having dinner at 9:30 p.m. is not an option).

Just curious if anyone else has had any luck with this strategy or any other tips for getting ADR's with larger parties otherwise.

Thanks in advance!

This is definitely ok and in some situations, when you check in, they can sit you together or at least close. Just let them know at check in that you have 2 ressies and if at all possible you would like to sit close. We were a party of 6 this past September and had to book 2 ressies (4 & 3) at Sci Fi and Tusker House breakfast. At both locations they were able to sit us together. This may not happen at every location but it is definitely worth a try. Good luck!!!

Thanks for the input! Was more curious about the logistics of how you go about making the ADR's in the first place for 2 separate tables. When I try to do this I get the "you have another dining reservation at this time" message and I have to cancel the existing reservation. I've seen people reference having 2 ADR's but don't know how to do that online. Thanks!

You might need another person in your group help you make the reservations. It might ask you to cancel your existing reservation when you go to book the second. Not sure if you can avoid this if you call?

Have you tried looking for 8? We have a similar situation with family joining us for a day and I was able to get some tables for 8 at decent times after the 180 mark for Oct. They are at resorts and not in the parks.

I would also try looking for six instead of five if you have not already done so.

Good luck!

oops, sorry about that.
We had to log in to 2 seperate MDE accounts to book the 2 ressies. We had one and my son's family had one so he gave me his log in and I used google chrome and firefox and logged in at the same time to book them as close together as I could.
If y'all are all in the same MDE, you would have to create another MDE, and use it to book for 4 and the other MDE to book the other 4.
I hope this makes sense :goodvibes

Was there a week with a party of 16 and I called to get reservations, usually 3, for the same time! When we showed up for the reservation, the restaurants did there best at seating us near each other! Only places we had a problem with sitting together was at BOG and 50's Prime Time. Ate at California Grill, Coral Reef, Kona Cafe, and Fulton's all together!

You still have plenty of time to keep checking online for reservations for a party of 5 and 8. Cancellations re-enter the system as soon as they are made so it is a matter of being online checking just as something comes through.

You can check for 5 first and then try 6. The reservation system has a quirk that makes it harder to find odd numbered reservations because the system wants to fill every seat at the table (6 top) rather than leave 1 seat empty so it often bypasses anyone looking for an odd number. Everybody, no matter how young, eating or not, needs to be included because of fire regulations so look for 6 rather than 4. If you find a res for 6 as long as at least one person shows up for the reservation you will not be charged for the missing 6th person.

A party of 8 will be harder, but again persistence. If you find 2 reservations very close in time, they will have to be booked through separate MDE accounts. When the system is working correctly, it will not allow you to hold 2 reservations within an hour or so of each other. You can also call and ask if the CM on the phone can book both reservations if you explain the situation.

If you book 2 reservations you can ask to be seated together or near each other when you check in. It is only a request so no guarantee, but CMs will do their best. Also, note that if you get 2 reservations for 4 people, you may be seated at separate 4 tops so one person in the family of 5 will have to sit with the family of 3.

You can also subscribe to the cancellation thread for November, but be sure to read the rules in the first post:

Generally my opinion it is cheating and rude to take up a slot that somebody else may need, but it is possible. In your MDE account you use another email and phone number.

In your situation it is a different circumstance and allowable by WDW. It is important that you do not use the same email or phone number since the times are the same or one will be canceled.

I edited my post because I left the last part off and it changed the meaning and my intention.

How is it cheating if I'm actually filling up 2 tables of 4?

Oh dear. I think my cut and paste from Word was only partial and my proofreading skills stink. How embarrassing. I am so sorry.
I added and missed the following - In your situation it is a different circumstance and allowable by WDW. It is important that you do not use the same email or phone number since the times are the same or one will be canceled.

Okay - thanks. I kind of felt like a clod! We are fine not sitting next to each other either - just trying to get the family in the same restaurant at the same time. Thanks to everyone for their input!

I can tell you YOU CAN. We booked GG for 6 of us at our 180. 2 days later, DD and her BF said they'd rather just the 2 of them go to coral reef. So I booked them coral reef. One of the reservations is 5:30, other is 5:45, and their names are on both reservations because a table for 4 is not available for me to drop them off. I keep checking but I doubt I will find a table for 4 at that exact time so we can all meet up after we eat. So I am keeping both reservations, just will have to tell them when I check in that there will only be 4.

We are a party of 18. We called - they booked 2 or sometimes 3 ADRs for me at the same time to accommodate all of us. The ADRs are all in my name. Perfectly allowable - for some restaurants, it's the only way to make ADRs for a large party.

A few years ago we had a party of 12: 6 adults and 6 children, consisting of 6 girls and 6 boys. I wanted to take the girls to Cinderella's Royal Table for lunch and my husband wanted to take the boys to Teppan Edo. The reservation system would not allow me to make 2 reservations at the same time, it wanted me to cancel one if I tried to make another one. I even call Disney Dining and tried to explain our situation but I got the same result, that I could not have two reservations at the same time. Thus, as stated you may need to have another person in your group make the second or third reservation.

This may have changed. Hope you have a magical trip!
