No. It is a fixed lens p&s. There are sometimes add on lenses that can attach to a p&s with an adapter, but they are not that great. Are you sure they were not talking about a Nikon D5000? It is a similar number and is a DSLR that has removable lenses.
Pretty much any p&s that can use add-on lenses require an adapter. It might come with the camera, but they usually do not. They typically run about $50. Then the lenses run around $100-200. I need to ask you what you want to achieve by getting these though. The quality of them is typically not that great. Also, by the time you have spent that much, you probably could get an entry level DSLR for the same money.
I don't know that I'm ready to spend too much money right now on a dslr. I'd love one though! I'm looking for quality pics with lots of clarity. I love doing up close shots too. I eventually want to get a dslr but was thinking this might be a great camera to get more familiar with photography.
So then it sounds like getting an adapter and lens would be a waste of money since they're not that great? Thanks for your help.
