Can you identify this DIS Dog? *Another DIS Dog drawing added on page 6!*

Her talent is amazing. Tink is so cute. She seems to capture the personality of her subject.

Another amazing drawing! And I think all your "children" are just adorable! :teeth:

Had to go back and add: The 2nd picture (black and white poodle) has a pillow with a champagne colored poodle on front. I have that very same pillow on my sofa. It looks so much like my last poodle and is why it was purchased.

We have 2 of those pillows on our couch. When Reilly is trimmed (the apricot poodle in the picture) and not shaggy, he looks just like the dog in the picture. We let him get shaggy in the winter though because the poor little guy gets cold so easily.

OMG! Her work is amazing. I can't image having that kind of talent.

Beautiful pictures. Can't wait to see some more. :3dglasses

Not sure why some people have to be so cruel to others. Her Wolf Picture was so strong, bold and beautiful. Something to be truely proud of.

I just had to share something else.

My DH was walking thru the room so I showed him the picture of Mabel. Than showed him Lauri portrait of Mabel. He said WOW! That is amazing somebody has some talent. So I went on to explain Lauri's history with her ex. He said to tell her that my DH thinks her work is simply AMAZING :thumbsup2 and that Son of a BLEEP doesn't know anything. Than he said "why would someone be so mean to someone like that?"

He loves her work also.

WE ALL LOVE YOU AND YOUR WORK Lauri!!!

Wow! Tell Lauri that she can draw my Max any time she wants! Although he's not a dog, he sure acts like one! So if she wants to venture into feline portraits, here's one of Max.

Yeah, you have to wonder how someone can be so cruel. Maybe his "girlfriend" at the time wasn't a art lover? Unfortunately Lauri has had her share of people like that in her life. You would think it would make her bitter and resentful towards people but luckily it didn't.

Shelby - I saved the picture of Max and added it to the file I'm saving for Lauri. I don't know if she has ever drawn a cat before but Max looks almost just like the cat she had when I met her - he didn't have the white blaze though, but had that huge mane of hair. Is he a Maine Coon?

Lauri went through the file earlier and picked one out to draw - she's been working on it for a while now and had to take a few breaks because her hand is giving out on her, but she's just about done and I'll scan it and post it shortly. She picked this dog because of the perspective - she said she's never drawn a dog from this view before and she likes a challenge :teeth:

Yes, he is. They call Maine Coon's the Gentle Giants of the cat world, and he is just that.

Okay, she is wiped out for the night but she finished the picture she was working on.

Time to name that DIS Dog - of course this one might be easier because the dog's pic is on this thread... :rotfl2:

Lauri's cat (she called him Sterling) was a Maine Coon too. She didn't mean to get a cat - he just kind of picked her. There were some college kids renting the house next door to her when she bought hers. The girls moved out and left the cat with the boys who started to abuse it. They eventually moved out and Sterling started hanging out in Lauri's yard. He was scared to death of people but absolutely loved her poodles and Samoyed and whenever another cat would try to pick a fight with him when the dogs were out, he would hop the fence and run over and hide between them. :rotfl2:

After about 3 months of coaxing and a daily can of 9-Lives sliced beef dinner, Sterling finally let her pet him and pick him up.

He never did like staying in the house - only when the weather was bad. He preferred to spend the day and night on the porch where he could keep an eye on things. When he did come in the house he could be found between the front legs of Misty the Samoyed getting a serious tongue bath.

After about 5 yrs he brought home a girlfriend. A small Bombay Lauri named Lucy. Lucy was an affectionate cat but not a healthy one and died about a year later. :(

He was mature when he moved in with her - probably 3 yrs old. About 2 yrs ago Sterling disappeared and never came back. We assume he went off to die on his own. :guilty: Even though it was sad, Lauri had him from 1989 to 2004. Considering he was mature when he moved in, he lived to a ripe old age for a cat that preferred the fresh air to Kitty Condos :)

Another amazing picture! She does beautiful work, I hope she gets back into the painting as well.

I didn't get a chance to read all the way through....just wanted to add I knew right away it was Mabel (fun I remembered the dogs name but not the DISer). That cutie always sticks in my mind because of the difference in the 2 siggie pictures. The drawing was perfect and it left no doubt to who it was.

Oh, I'm so touched and excited! My Rosie looks so beautiful. Thank you Lauri, so so much - I love it! You really captured her sweet spirit. It just about made me cry when I saw it, because our Rosie's getting older, and we don't know how much longer we'll have her with us. Thanks again.

Outstanding pic of ROSIE! Love it and she really is a beauty! :teeth:

I'm so glad you liked it. :)

Oooh, I was hoping you'd offer! Off to send that PM right now. :thumbsup2

Add me to the list of people who think Lauri's work is incredible! I love all of it. I hope she is able to continue her work!
Here is my entry to the dog list! This is Mickey! We got him a year ago from a friend at church. He'll be 3 in June!

Also, if she does decide to try and do cats, I'd like to add my Felix. We lost him 2 1/2 years ago. He had a wonderfully long life of 15 years. I still miss him incredibly. This was taken a couple days before he died, He had diabetes for a year and a half, but it was tumors in his abdomen that finally took him.(I have tears in my eyes just thinking of him.)
