Can you help me figure out if we should get DDP?

Hello!

My family and I traveled to WDW in June and got the DDP and loved it.

Now, my DH and I are headed back in January with two other couples and no kids :yay: and I'm trying to figure out if it's in our best interest to get the DDP again or not.

We will be staying for four nights and purchasing four days of Park Hopper passes. Since we are staying four nights, that means four TS/CS/snacks, right??

We have ADR at Jiko, Liberty Tree, the Plaza and Prime Time Cafe. The way our travel is scheduled, four CS meals in addition to that would get us through so we wouldn't have to pay anything OOP.

I guess my question is, with those restaurant choices, do you think we'd be better off getting the DDP or just paying for everything OOP?

Thanks so much for your advice!

Siince those are some of the cheapest meals you might do better out of pocket. especially since you now have tip to pay as well.
really depends on what you would order at counter service and what snacks, you might still come out a bit better on plan.

I may be wrong, but I thought Jiko was a signature restaurant, meaning 2TS for that night??

If you are spending less than $25 for a meal then you are definitely better off paying OOP. Most CS are around $10 and the snacks $3. Jiko takes 2 credits so it wouldn't work but you'd have to have an entree and dessert that is more than $50 and the entrees are mostly about $30. Plaza entrees are around $11. Prime Time is around $16. It looks like you'd lose money and not have enough credits anyway. I think paying OOP will be nice because you could opt to do apps instead of dessert or each couple could share an app and a dessert. We find most of the CS desserts go to waste but sharing one might be fun and a good OOP compromise that's similar to the DDP.

You'll need to purchase the Magic Your Way package. You won't be able to purchase your room separately.

Hi,

The way I figured mine out was I made a list of the places we were going to eat at and looked at the menus and what we would probably order and added it up and compared the totals.

You would need to pay for one of your meals OOP with those four choices. As others have said, Jiko takes two credits.

Your cost for the DDP is 38.99 x 2 (people) x 4 (nights) or $311.92 (for you and your DH - I assume you aren't paying for the other two couples)

I'd look at the menus for Jiko, and then two of the other TS's that you are considering. Try to decide what you and DH would order if you went in there and were sitting down to order anything you want.

Take the cost of the entree, the dessert, the beverage and add on tax. Add those totals and see how much money you'd spend if you were ordering just what you'd want.

Now for CS. Do you and DH share meals, or each order your own? I agree with others - most CS's are around $10 per order.

Add up your totals and see how close to $311.92 you are. Remember paying OOP you pay for tax, and the DDP covers the tax on the meals for you.
