Wow! Jake is very similar in coloring to the pup that I prefered! Very cute doggies...
I read on an online library link that labs and goldens are hunt dogs. Very docile but will chase prey if not trained. It also said that "as a breed" labs are a bit more stubborn to train and they tend to jump (chocolates more so than yellows or blacks). They were being very general. They also mentioned that goldens do shed if not groomed once a week or trimmed every other month.
My golden/mix dog, sheds enormously. So, I won't need to vacuum more, just spend more time doing it. That's fine.
I should be getting a picture of the lab/mixes by Monday or Tuesday. Either way, I cannot go wrong. My son is going to be beside himself, he will be so happy!
The ploy (whether mix or purebred):
Take the family for a ride, tell son Mommy is looking for an antique chair (something). Go to the home, find out that the woman has dogs and let my son play with them while we look at a chair. After a few minutes of interaction, ask him to pick one and take him home with us!
