Okay, So Hound got me thinking and the AP rate sounds great but as I expected I'm having trouble conving DH to pay an additional 100$ he wants to know what the perks are to staying concierge and what makes it worth the additional 100 bucks. (We're currently planning to stay at Hojo's with ent. rate and are paying 69 dollars, I'm thinking of staying one or two days of our trip on site for the EE benefits).

What do you guys think? Is concierge worth an additional hundred dollars??

How many people are going? My dh agreed after he heard about beer hour. Free beer = good times:rotfl:

Priorty check in.
Light Breakfast
Beer/wine and warm apps
light lunch
beverages all day!!!

For us, worth it

Well, why do YOU want to stay onsite?

We were offsite and I changed to PP (not even for a terrific deal, but for a merely good one of the 4th night free), but when it comes down to it, we changed b/c, simply, "I wanna". :) We're now going to be further away from the entrance than we were, it costs more...

But we can get extra EE than with our package-bought parkhopper, and that allows us to upgrade to APs earlier (% off meals). So that's good. And we get the mental benefit of staying "on"site. :)

Is the 169 really for concierge? That's pretty cool. For me, my only question about whether concierge is good for me is...can my family eat (in this case) $100 worth of snacks per day? For us, right now, the answer is a flat out NO.

Figure out why YOU want to switch, and maybe it will help you see how to tell DH why HE should want to switch.

Well honestly, I just did some searching on the site and now I'm thinking maybe I don't want to. I think I would want to stay onsite simply because it's cool and I never have, but sounds like it's just snacks with concierge and there is no way that makes it worth it, so I don't anymore. Can you eat breakfast and lunch with concierge or is it all just cookies?

It's just dh and myself - so you could eat lunch with concierge then...hmmm...that might make it worth it

And free beer is good :thumbsup2

I believe they have pastries, cereals, and fruit during breakfast. Around lunch time they have fruits, cookies, chips and uncrustables pb&j. During wine and cheese, they have wine, beer, cheese, 1 appetizer (chicken skewer when we went), and i think a pasta salad. I believe they have cookies, chips, fruits and drinks throughout the day and the other foods are only during certain hours. When we did PPH concierge, we only had the AP 10% discount and dh thought it was our best stay at any DLR property. For $169, i'd do it again. We've actually chosen to do DLH concierge for our trip in Oct using the AP4 rate. We originally had hojo's booked with the entertainment rate of $59 a night. When the AP4 rate came out, i reminded him what a great stay we had at PPH and he eventually agreed to fork out the extra money. We actually spent the least on food when we stayed concierge than any other previous trip.

Its not a full lunch. I meant pb&j, chips, fruit. Beer hour is dh fave.:cutie: I enjoy the pampering that comes all with. We spend maybe $50 on food for 3 day with 5 people. I love turn down service, upgrade to view room, mickey treats. Healthier snack options all day.

Again, for me it was worth it.

Oh no....don't blame it on me. :rotfl:

V&B's mom describes the concierge service perfectly.

Obviously a better deal if you had 3 kids, but even with just 2 adults, it might be worth it for a couple of nights.

- EE for each day.
- beers/wine at 5pm (with appetizers/dinner)
- breakfast.
- on site (you know you want to once).
- snacks at mid day.
- unlimited waters/drinks etc.

I think it's worth $70 - $100 per day....but to me, EE is the final consideration.

Thanks guys, I've convinced dh. We're going to see if we can get AP rates for GC concierge, anyone know if we can? Dh and I decided to split the cost, in the end it does all come out of the same pocket but it helped to ease dh's mind a bit. But after reading some reviews it sounds like GC is the best hotel to stay, but if they aren't offereing the AP rate we'll stay at PP.

We're now deciding if we should do our first two days or our final 2 days, I guess we'll call and see which days they have available that will answer that question. Thanks everyone :thumbsup2

If both choices are available, I'd recommend doing your onsite stay towards the end of your trip. I think its much easier to upgrade your hotel at the end of your trip rather than to downgrade.

GCH is a beautiful hotel and we've always enjoyed our stay there tremendously. I wasn't sure if you were aware or not, but GCH concierge w/ AP4 is $289/night. Definitely call ASAP to see if they have rooms available as GCH quickly books up at the heavily discounted AP rates.

Is it worth it? Personally----No not in my opinion, I would rather have the $100+ 15% tax and "resort fee"

Waht hours is PP concierge open? I know they close at 8 but what time in the am do they open?

We are trying GC concierge at the AP4 rate in three weeks for the first time. It is DH and my first trip there together with no DS and we decided to splurge and try the GC. I think we will definitely use the concierge benefits to the max and if we don't we will at least know maybe not to upgrade to it the next go around.

 289$ hmm, now I'm not sure about that. That's an awful lot of money for just a bed and some snacks...

How often do they have the AP rates? Maybe we'll just do DLH concierge I think it's closer to the park than PP and not as expensive as GC. Then for our September 2008 trip, if they're offering the rates we can bugdet for our small trip to stay at GC concierge.

They had the special AP rates last August. We used it then to stay at GCH. I think the special rates lasted a couple of months. It's probably a good chance they'll run it again for next year.

Is there more than one AP rate? What is AP4? Do I need to ask for the AP4 rate to get the really good deals?

There's also the pool aspect. If you are going back to the hotel for a light snack, why not swim in the pool? All 3 onsite hotels have good pools with water slides (I think GC has one, though I'm not sure. I know PPH and DLH have one).
