I'm waiting for a call back from doctor but I figured until then I would go to my next resource... the Dis :teeth:

I have had redness in my right eye for almost a week. I didn't think anything of it because it doesn't itch. I'm not doing anything different to my face so I don't think it's allergies (again, not itching and it's only in one eye). At first I figured it was because I wasn't sleeping but now I'm not so sure.

Any thoughts?

It could be pink eye, doesn't have to itch. Is it weepy at all? I know when I get that I just know.

But you do not want to mess with your eye, so I would go to the eye DR and get checked. If it is just pink eye, cool, but it spreads so make sure you don't touch your other eye and wash hands a lot.

pink eye is usually matted when you wake up and goopy... but it sounds like you may have an eye infection?

It's not weepy either. I have had pink eye before and it doesn't resemble it at all with the exception of the redness. I wonder if I should check with the eye doctor instead of my family practice?

Thanks guys :goodvibes

Oh, don't mention pink eye! I've had it 3 times in 3 mths. GOing to eye dr. next week. COnjunctivitis can have many causes...if it's not goop then I doubt it's bacterial. COuld be allergies or viral also.

It could be allergic from something airborne. Maybe there's something blooming right now that you are allergic to. My teenage son has been having a problem lately.

My sister was treated for pink eye the day she left for the Dominican Republic. When she came home, her eye was still pink even though she'd been using the antibiotic drop.

She went back to the dr and he said that she had a rash on her cornea but they caught it early enough that she shouldn't have permanent vision loss. :scared1: He gave her a second antibiotic and had her come back the next day. The vision loss she had (minor) the previous day wasn't better yet. That was on a Tuesday and she came back again on Friday. The vision loss improved and she was on the mend.

Evidently, when some people get rashes on their cornea, the rash must be scraped off. If that had been the case with her, she would have gone to Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia for another opinion and to have the procedure done, as a cornea is not something that should be left to an eye dr and not a corneal expert.

This happened just a few weeks ago. She's fine now.

BTW, are you using that Bausch and Laum solution that was just recalled? If so, stop using it, stop wearing your contacts for a few days and save the solution you have since you'll be part of the class in the lawsuit.

Emily had this a month or so ago. Her right eye was read in places, but there was no gunk, runniness or itching. Her doctor's nurse suspected an allergy, so Igave her some benadryl, which seemed to help. But when I spoke to her doctor later, she felt it might have been just some sort of irritation. It went away after a couple of weeks.

actually ds5 came from his dads w/ something similar now that I think about it... I knew it wasn't pink eye... but I took him to the dr and he thought it was viral ... 24 hrs of drops (that were $75) and he was fine :) I gave them to him twice a day for a week though....just to be sure!
