Hi

I hope this isn’t a silly question (or one tat has been asked & answered a hundred times :) ) but here goes – can you have a ceremony or renewal off site and then just have a reception style dinner at one of the restaurants? or if you turn up in a wedding dress do they consider it an escape wedding regardless of ceremony or not?

As we wanted to have a small celebratory dinner either on our won or with two close friends at one of the restaurants. I was also hoping to hire a photographer for either a trash the dress style shoot or a shoot in our wedding attire if we are allowed, but we don’t want to have the ceremony at WDW do we have any options :confused3 ?

People have definately done this in the past. I am not sure what trip reports to look at maybe someone else can help out?

I think you can wear wedding attire at the Disney Resorts & resteraunts, just not IN the parks. You can still have dessert parties etc , but for those you cannot wear wedding attire.

Maybe look at the Swan & Dolphin trip reports, some people have had their cermony there and reception at a Disney resteraunt.

Where are you planning to have your ceremony? :)

Not sure how it would work for a small group. We are having our ceremony off site at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, but we are having our cocktail hour and reception in Epcot. We are treated as a wishes wedding and had to sign the same contract and meet the same minimums.

Great I will check out the Swan & Dolphin thread now :cheer2:

Our ceremony is a funny one as we wanted to have a “renewal” about 5 days after we actually get married. I know it sounds crazy :scratchin but we had actually planned & began booking our WDW wedding about 18 months ago and about 4 months back now, our families just turned around & refused to come, so after a lot of heartache we “choose” to cancel :sad2:

We would have had the whole “renewal” as an Escape pkg at WDW but now we just can’t afford a home wedding, 6 week honeymoon & Disney renewal as well.
As we had committed a lot of (non refundable) money to coming to the US we are really locked into our honeymoon now, added to this my gorgeous FH has said that we have to have a mini celebration (with a cake & photo shoot) as he knows how disappointed I am not having our wedding at WDW.

A friend actually suggested a reception only idea but I didn’t think Disney would go for it as we found them to be rally strict with there conditions.

I'd like to know this as well. HEck I may take the plane in my gown on July 20th!!! lol
