Our family has a trip planned for AKL Kidani next month. Friends of ours from Tampa would like to come and spend the day with us. They don't want to go to parks but thought we could have lunch and swim for the day. First, is this allowed? Second, since we have never stayed AKL before does anyone have any ideas of what we could do for the day? I have teens and she has a 6 and 7 yr old.
Thanks :)

You certainly may have guests. We have family in the Orlando area that often comes to spend a day with us. As far as activities go, I don't know the specifics, but I recall when we stayed at AKL they had several activities centered around the animals throughout the day. I also love going to play miniature golf and walk around Downtown Disney.

You can ask for a parking permit for their car as well. Note, if the pool is crowded and the CMs check for guests staying at the resort, your friends could be asked to leave.

Although you are staying at Kidani you can use the pool at Jambo House as well which is a larger pool. Although I think that kids and some adults really enjoy the water play area at Kidani more, there are more lounge chairs at Jambo House and definitely more shade.

lunch, yes. swim, ehhh....

the rule is that the pool is for guests at that resort (and kidani and jambo make up one resort). if the pool isn't busy at all, the lifeguard may bend the rules and allow non-guests to swim. but if the pool is busy - and it might be in the summer - they may be asked to leave.

possible ideas:

but mini-golf and downtown disney are good suggestions.

Parking...When guests come to visit, do you ask at the front desk for a parking permit?

Thanks!:)

Add them to your reservation if you have room and they can do everything you can do, otherwise you'll need permission for them to use the pool legally and that is likely to be denied there.

That is a great idea if there is room for more guests in your villa. That would certainly be the simplest way to solve your issue.

There are 2 of us staying in a studio...Never thought of adding the other 2 adult guests to the reservation so they can fully enjoy all amenities such as the pool, parking, etc. Thanks!:thumbsup2

No, having guests over to swim in the pool is not allowed. You can ask the lifeguards if they will allow it, but I'd be prepared to be told no. Even DVC members who have pool-hopping privileges aren't allowed to hop to AKL/AKV pools. If you really want to swim with them, meet at a water park for the day. They are welcome to come visit, eat, shop, view the animals, etc with you. They'll just tell the gate guard that they are visiting friends (they may ask for your name, ask to see ID). There's no charge to park at resorts.

To be honest....I'm sure it's done here...I know AKL doesn't allow pool hopping as well as SAB, and BCV pool, and BLT and AOA. ... Is it strictly enforced? Well at SAB, yes definitely, At AKV, maybe not so much, it's still not supposed to do be done though...

As others have stated, I would just add them to your room, just so you have no worries .

Yes

In the past, I've had a permit printed at the front desk during checkin

But I think now you can ask in person or call and they can have one ready at the guard shack.

We always have family that live in Florida visit us for the day. The kids swim in the pool, and join the poolside activities as well as movies under the stars. And we never had a problem. They just mentioned at the gate they were visiting me gave them my name and room number and that was it.

1st off :welcome: to the disboards...

2ndly I saw this on DVC news. http://dvcnews.com/index.php/dvc-pr...14/news-27910/2565-disney-policing-pool-usage

And this is at BWV, which isn't even on the Do not Poolhop list, such as BCV, SAB, AKV/L BLT, & AoA... They might've allowed you but, I'm sure it's not a common practice.... Just be prepared if they say you can't do it , That's all I'm saying..

You've been lucky. I'm guessing that resorts may step up their pool policies now that MBs make it easier to identify resort guests, but that may still only happen during busy time periods. Do people bring guests to the pools or swim in pools at resorts other than where they are staying? Yes. Are they supposed to? No.
