The lack of information that people have concerning the events of 9/11 are to some degree understandable considering the many things that have been done to suppress any information about that days events.

The events of 9/11 as well as many of the political threads and most of what passes for debate here on the CB are not all that appropriate
or in keeping with the
" just be friendly " guidelines.

So before making any additional attempts to expose people here to what they need to know, it seems an indication of people's willingness to know versus their ability to tolerate discomfort might be helpful.

How many of the following do you agree with ?

It's always best to know the truth.

Truth is best even if it makes others uncomfortable.

Truth is only ok if it's not difficult to find.

Truth is not worth having to admit you've been tricked.

Truth is the first victim of war.

I always want the truth, no matter how ofensive it may be. Obviously a lot of people don't like to discuss painful subjects. Thats why your threads inevitably keep getting closed. Good luck with this one.

Maybe the powers that be don't like MM either!;)

I agree with the first two options on your list, how do I vote?

Just to be fair, there's a HUGE difference between objective truth and truth, as you (generic you, not pointing fingers at anyone) see it. What Michael Moore considers truth, a large segment of the population would consider propaganda. Some things that I consider the truth would be questioned similarly by others.

I have no problem discussing such subjects. But check all the facts (not just the ones that support your political viewpoint) before considering something to be objectively true. That goes for both sides in the arguments over Michael Moore, as well as any side of any political debate.

Truth is a lot slipperier than one might think.

I thought we were talking about the truth?

Truth? You want the truth?

You can't handle the truth!

minniepumpernickel,

Closed threads ? Please specify.
Edit to add that upon checking it appears one thread that had long since ceased to have anything to do with the orginal topic purposed has been mercifully closed. While this is not what Truth would avocate (closing a thread) as long as the DIS sees fit to allow people banned to return, closing threads where these people have fixated seems to be the better option where no good choices exist.

----------------------

Snoopy,
it was meant that people could vote for as many options as they agreed with, if not an error has taken place, apologies.
Your Preference is however noted, Thank You.

---------------------

Shortbun,

The truth does not set everyone free in fact it can be quite destructive, but that is for another thread.

---------------------

jrydberg,

no truth is the truth no matter who is aware of it
or how anyone tries to redefine it.

---------------------

Jimbo,

anyone can stumble on part of the truth even if it was not their intent and regardless of other people's ability to distinguish any truth among the chaff.

-------------------

Dan,

you need to trust your instincts more, LOL.

As far as the truth goes regarding what George Bush did and
was thinking on September 11, 2001; only he knows for sure.
Some film was recorded, some statements were made, some
people make assumptions. Truth is illusive. One thing I do know
to be pure fact. Some people on these boards have lots of trouble controlling their anger and think that the louder they
scream the chance of their being correct increases. And that's
the truth. sigh

And yeah, I know the truth can be destructive. I was in trite
mode. Sorry.:D

Truth? You want the truth?
You can't handle the truth!

Very good Eeyroe, I was gonna do the same thing...

I want the truth no matter what. I dont want someones version of the truth. I want it all out on the table that way I can interpret it in my mind. I dont want someone to lead me down the table and come to their conclusion. Let me make up my own mind.

Havent seen the movie that Pigboy made. Probably wont. I dont want to give money to him and his cause.

Philosophically, truth is an absolute. There can be no “truth as you see it.”

I think you misunderstand the point of my post. Just because someone peddles something as the truth doesn't make it so.

By the way, I think people have access to an extraordinary amount of information regarding the events of September 11th, 2001.

You seem to think that your posts consist mainly of objective truths. Yet it seems obvious to me that they are laden with opinion and subjective assessments (as are mine, incidentally).

But I'm not suggesting that those who disagree with me are ignorant. You are. Is that in keeping with "friendly" debate guidelines?

But how does that work in the real world? People do not live, work, and interact in a philosophical vacuum. While truth may be an absolute, in real life truth is often influenced by many external factors, including culture, tradition, experience, education, beliefs, etc. That's why it is too often way too difficult to establish an "absolute" truth about events.

I hate that discussions about 9/11 are starting to have the same undertones as Jehovah's witnessing or New Age-ism or Scientology. It's creepy. For the Truth, go see this Movie, buy this Book, Read the Koran...

Ahhh....The mark of intelligence.

Speaking of truth...haven't, won't, and don't use apostrophes.

"Truth" is always filtered through the person giving it and through the person receiving it. One person's "truth" is another's lie.

Sure, I want the "truth." But "truth" comes from interpreting the situation for myself.

People will post and not disagree and every one of them will think that they're right or smarter than the last guy...

No one's beliefs will change but their opinions about those who made opinions will...

Names will be thrown and rolling laughing smilies will abound after numerous "quotes"....

Now THAT'S THE TRUTH!

I think you summed it up best. The truth is still subject to interpretation no matter how absolute it is.
