Can you go to resorts without reservation?

Was going to visit a resort - shopping. Is this allowed? Just a break from home, day trip. Would rather a walk around a resort vs springs.

Officially, no. But, if you are taking Disney transportation then you can do it as they're not checking for reservations on buses/monorail/boats. If you're driving yourself they won't let you park without a dining or resort reservation.

I hope things stay that way. We'll be there this Christmas and shopping at the resorts is always part of our visits. We'll be walking to the Grand Floridian and the Contemporary and I'd hate for them to start checking reservation status.
