my DD wanted to give the characters a card. Can they take things you give them? For some reason I feel like they can't?

They won't have anywhere to put it. I suppose they could hand it off to their handler as soon as you leave.

You absolutely can ! My son is autistic and not as verbal as he'd like to be with the Characters. However, he is a great sculptor and makes each character a small sculpture. The characters are thrilled and then, for safe-keeping, they give the gift to the handler. My personal favorite was when he gave Pluto (at Chef Mickey's) his own pink fire hydrant. PERFECT!! I hope Pluto's 'breaks' have become much more meaningful since he received his own personalized relieve-ment station. pluto:

My DD gave Anna and Elsa a drawing that she did for them. They made a big deal about it and then put it on the mantle area behind them for "safe keeping."

Yes, it is a very common practice in Japan and among visiting Japanese guests. At Tusker House it is very common to see the handler walking around with the gifts the characters were given.

My kids always make cards/pictures for Mickey and give them to him at Town Square. He is always so thankful and just gushes over them. They usually display the card on his mirror (at least until we leave). Have her do it, it's a great interaction!

My daughter wanted to give Snow White a pack of crayons when she was two. She completely forgot and had a mild meltdown until we took her to a CM who promised to give them to Snow White. :)

The best character interaction we ever had at MK was when I picked up some acorns on Tom Sawyers Island before we saw Chip and
Dale when they used to greet in the old spot in Fantasyland. I handed them to them and they went crazy They hugged me and started dancing.. It was me, my ds who was 8 at the time, dd who was 12 and hubby. Dale went into the next room and brought over Donald Duck to show them. It was really funny!

When my boys were five, they gave Pooh a jar of honey. We were at Crystal Palace.
