Can you get the Dining Plan if you have an Annual pass??

Hello

DH and I are headed back to WDW this September for our annual break, but we will also be going for a few days in early December.

I was considering getting an Annual Pass as this may be cheaper than 10 day ticket + 4 day ticket, but can you participate in the Dining Plan if you have an Annual Pass?? If so, how?

We have gotten free dining the last few years, so I know that is a consideration in the cost calculations as well.

Yes, you can get the dining plan with an AP. You'll need to go through the passholder website (I've not tried calling, so I don't know how that works) and book a ticketless package. It is subject to all the normal rules of a package deal (e.g., payment in full due 45-days from arrival).

Regarding free dining, if the terms of the deal require a ticket purchase (as they have recently), then you will still need to purchase the tickets to qualify for free dining.

September is typically free dining, which you will miss out on -- unless you buy tickets on top of an annual pass.
Though, I have heard of people buying regular tickets (for the free dining), and then applying the purchase price of those tickets towards an annual pass. Maybe someone else can shed light on it.

If you are getting an annual pass, then you are eligible for a TiW card. Which by my calculations, for *most* people, is a far superior cost saver over the dining plan.

I saw book the free dining (if they have it) and tix for your sept trip then once you are there upgrade to an annual pass. When you go in dec just pay out of pocket for food. and use your annual pass for a passholders room discount

if free dining comes out, book the first trip with the free dining, and upgrade those tickets to annual pass. Then book your second trip with passholder room discount with dining. You won't get free dining with annual pass, but generally passholder discounts on the rooms can be substantial (have had as much as 45% off on studio villa)

We've done this exact scenario before. Actually, we just did it here in February again, so I guess this is the 2nd time we've done it.
