My son and I are going to hit all 4 parks in one day on July 20th. My sister and her sons plan to drop us off and then hit Universal. I am assuming I would need to get dropped off at the TTC, right? Would they charge for parking if someone is dropping you off? Would dropping me off at the Contemporary be an option--then we could just walk over?

Yes, you can get dropped off. It is at the TTC, near where the taxi's park. You'll enter into the MK area, head like you are going to the Poly, and then you'll see signs for "guest drop off". It is right past the lost and found.

From there it is just a short walk over to where you pick up the monorail or the ferry.

You don't have to pay, just tell them at the parking gates that you are dropping someone off.

Just be aware that this is much harder to find than most think. In fact, most MK CMs don't even know about it. Be sure to know where you're going!:thumbsup2

Though I think drop off at Contemporary may be a better bet. You can probably just drive up to front of Contemporary and drop them off and continue driving and they can walk to MK.
Or if they want to take monorail I think drop off at Poly is best 'cause if I'm correct, the next stop after Poly is MK.

Particularly during busier times, the guard may not let you do this.

If they don't give you a parking pass, you'd get towed anyway, right? So they wouldn't need to give my sis a parking pass since she'd be dropping me off and not parking.

I would vote for drop off at CR and walk over. Worst case scenerio the guard will make you turn around (to go back out the gate) just hop out of the car - you two walk and your sister can drive out and be on her way.

Head for the Poly, and the drop off spot is right before you get to the entrance of the Poly, also on the right hand side.

If you are going to try a resort drop off, Contemp will be the best if you want to walk. The Grand Floridian is the best for monorail service because the first stop is MK. The Polys first stop is GF, then on to MK.

Agreed, the guards may not let you "visit" if it busy. Sometimes it depends on the guards mood at the time , lol.

Regardless of where you get dropped off, good luck with the 4 park challenge! We did this a few years ago and had a blast! But, it was November, alot cooler and probably less crowded. We did AK, MK, DHS and finished at EPCOT. Have fun! We had Photpass, so we had the days events in pictures! Be sure to take a picture at the entrance of each park or your favorite ride.

drop off at Grand Floridian, and take either the monorail or the resort boat over.

The guards will have no problems letting you in to drop someone off...people do this all the time: dropping guests off to go back to their room, or to go to the restaurants or shops at that resort.

If it is busy they will not give you a parking pass for the hotel's parking lot...but they will allow you to drop someone off.

Perhaps CR is different, but the GF gate guard asked to see my hotel keycard every time I drove through the gate.

Get dropped off at the Comtemporary. It's a 5 minute walk from the park entrance and you don't need to worry about the boat or monorail.

So you cant tell the parking lot attendant that youre just "dropping off or picking up" at any of the 4 parks? (example, HS) "Im dropping off or picking up my brother"

Yes, you can.
There are designated drop-off/pickup points for all 4 theme parks.

But, the designated drop-off/pickup point for MK is at TTC, and
therefore, requires the guest to ride Disney transportation to the MK gates.

There is no place for a guest's car to stop near the MK gates (that's a high-level bus area.)
So, it has been suggested that you pull into the Contemporary Resort lot and drop
a guest off there, with a walk to MK as the plan (see map below.)

But, during very busy times (including Christmas Week, Spring Break Easter, Independence Day holidays)
there can be times when the entire MK parking lot will be closed to further cars, and just trying to drive
there will be difficult. It's not unusual to find problems getting to the monorail resorts' parking lots on those days, as well. (Especially if you are not a guest of those resorts.)

We did four parks last year the week after 4th of July and had a great time. We have been to WDW many times, so we know what we like and how to maximize our time. We are doing, US/IOA, BG/SW and Gatorland for the rest of the week, but I couldn't resist one day at Disney. It's just me and DS18 this time.

Security at all the resorts is higher now than it has been in the past. We were in WDW last week (6/7 - 6/14), and regularly took cabs to other resorts for dinner reservations, etc. Each time, the cab driver was stopped at the gate (normal), asked who his passengers were and why they were visiting (somewhat more involved than before -- guards wanted to know specifically where we were headed and why), and we were asked to show one of our KTTW (much more strict than a year or two ago).

Robo, as usual, has it all down pat.

Just a stupid question here...how does the guard at any of the resorts know that the people you are dropping off aren't going to that resort to eat or shop? Many people eat and shop and visit resorts at Disney they are not staying at so why couldn't they be dropped off at resort to do so? Just curious? Like, if you drop them off at GF so they can take monorail, why can't you tell guards we're guests at "xyz" resorts and dropping off some of us for breakfast?

Not trying to argue or anything here, just curious as I'm not familiar with "driving" rules at WDW as we always fly down and use Disney transportation. Without asking anyone, my first inclination in this scenario would be to get dropped off at a monorail resort and head to MK from there.

I would suggest getting dropped off at one of the monorail hotels. It's easier to get in and out and you can just take the monorail over to MK. Sometimes the waits at the monorail or ferry can be 15-30 minutes depending on the time. Since you have the ability to start from anywhere, I wouldn't do it at TTC.

Have fun!

If your passengers get out near the Contemporary guard shack you/they are somewhat closer to Magic Kingdom compared with dropping off at the resort front door.

So even if you are denied entrance to CR you have to make a U turn and 20 feet later you can stop and drop them off.

I would personally get dropped off at the Contemporary and then walk over from there, much shorter than waiting for another form of transportation. Anytime I've taken a cab into MK this is what I've done and it's been the best!
