Do you have to book your room through AAA travel to get a AAA discount, or can you book directly through Disney?

You can book directly thru Disney. Just say you want the AAA discount. Only a certain number of rooms are available at the AAA rate. It's not much but it's something.

I agree with the previous poster. Also have your membership card handy. Many CM's ask for your membership number. Others have reported that they don't ask but have it handy.

I don't know if this happens often, but I have gotten different AAA rates from Disney and from AAA for the same time period, resort, etc. Sometimes going directly thru Disney is cheaper, sometimes, through AAA. Although the difference isn't really major, it doesn't hurt to double check with both..

I hope I got a good rate!!

OUr 25th anniversary is in oct and since our honeymoon was at WDW (and many trips in between then and now!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc )
we'll be celbrating 25 years there as well

anyway I call the 1-407-w-disney # and got a great CM named Venessa and I just asked for the rate for 10-9 thru 16 at the CBR
the rate was $1123 including taxes

then I asked for the AAA rate and it came to $955 with taxes!!
(she just said I needed the card at check in)

is this a good rate or just considered an average rate

also now that the trip is shaping up how do I go about getting the countdown? Ive seen this posted a few times but silly me
:jester: never wrote anything down

thanks for the help

It looks like your AAA discount came to 15%, which I think is very good for October. We have gotten several different rates, the best of which was for the first week in December of 20%, and the worst of which was for October of 10%. I think you did well.

Dznypal , go to the technical board and you can find out all about the counters that go in your posts.

When we were making our reservation at POR for Jan. we asked about AAA discounts, even though we were not members at the time. The AAA rate was $118 a night as opposed to the rack rate of $133. We told the CM we were not AAA members yet, but would join to get the rate (even after paying the membership fee we were going to save money on the room). She said no problem and went ahead and reserved the room for us, saying we just needed to be sure and have our membership card upon check in. It pays to ask what the AAA rate is, even if you're not a member at the time, because it can really be worth joining!

We have always been asked for our AAA member number, and it never seems like anyone is notes when I give it to them. Dunno what that means. They always want to see either the AAA card or AP on check-in though.

ead79, fyi there are times during the year where the ONLY discounted room rates are AAA room-only rates, so book fast if you know when you are going. There are only so many of those and when they are gone its back to rack rates.

I just booked through Dreams Unlimited using the AAA discount. They will provide you with a quote using that discount if you have your membership # available. :D

I also booked 2 rooms at CBR back in August through AAA and got them for $1922, for April 4 - 10. Yesterday I called AAA to see if I could use the new code and spoke to the travel agent that booked our rooms back in August. She said she would try to get us the discount but she was trying to rebook 2 rooms. What I don't understand is do I need to book the rooms again to get the discount? Couldn't she just apply the discount to my reservations that I already have? I emailed her with this question this morning and she hasn't replied to me yet. Also would I be able to call Disney myself and ask if I can use the code being that I didn't book through them? Sorry for so many questions but you guys know so much about Disney I'm hoping someone out there might be able to help. I'd love to get the discounted rate of $114 per night. Right now we're paying $160 per night per room including tax.

Thanks. Connie

Sorry for posting twice. I'm having problems with our new computer.
