Ok, this is probably not an ethical question, but here goes....
We plan to go and take advantage of the free dining plan. While shopping for our package at POP, we found that if we say Madison is 2 instead of 3 1/2, we save $100 on our package price.....we really don't need the dining plan for her anyway, since she eats so little...Should I, could I, do this? Will anyone really care? :confused3

Or will this bite me in the butt with her park tix? I bet that is where the $100 comes from....

If there is free dining than the $100.00 comes from the park tickets. Occasionally I have seen the cm's at the gate ask children their age, but I have never seen them ask for proof of age. If you are going to do this you are going to have to prep your child to lie to the cm's if asked.. If you are willing to ask your child to do it you will probably get away with it.

My last post came off a bit harsh, I wanted to clarify a little. The cm's will not usually ask the adult, but will ask the children until the children themselves answer. I have not personally seen it but have heard from others about families being turned away or forced to buy a ticket because the child answered with a different age than the parent.

I too have seen the CM's ask the kids age. For the price you are paying I don't think you beat it! My son just turned 3, we too are going and don't really need the free dining for him, but I choose to be honest. I feel others pay the price for someone else choosing to "fudge" their childs age. I just paid $22 for him to get into the aquarium! A bit outrageous, YES! but I only feel that is right. Just my opinion.

here we go again, Sure go ahead and lie. Me and all the other fools never thought of this and go and pay the right price for our children. And jeez 6 mos over most people get flamed for a couple of weeks! Other posters have had to show Birth Cert. or pay at the gate. Whatever cute term you call it it is a lie.

OH boy!!! You must have not been reading these boards long enough to know that the DISNEY POLICE!!! are gonna get ya.......

Do not ask for opinions that are considered unethical or you will surely be flamed......

No Disney Police, only true responses to the question.

You need to buy a ticket for your child if that child is three or older when you arrive at WDW. Free dining is free for the occupants of the room during the specified time span. Your child will not be given any free food at non-buffets if you don't have dining credits for her. Children under the age of three can eat from buffets for free. But if you order them food from the menu at other TS restaurants, you will pay for it out of pocket since you won't have dining credits for her.

You're right ~ it's not ethical.

I say go ahead and just remember when you have to pick her up for driving at 14 :moped: or at a bar at 16 :drinking1 It all started for $100 savings. :lmao: :stir:

I wasn't even going to post because I know what all our answers will be. But to the OP- come on!!!! It's one thing if she was maybe turning 3 at the week of your visit- but 3 and 1/2! It's only $100- think of Jimny Cricket whistling and let your conscience be your guide! :rolleyes1

Ha - guess I asked for these responses! I will pay the full price for her. And in case anyone wants to throw some more gas on the flames....her dad nearly died of a brain aneursym in December - he is one of the 45 million uninsured/underinsured in this country. His medical bills are over $150,000. I decided to book this trip to celebrate his recovery and his 3 children getting to keep their dad. It's somewhat of a hardship for us as we (family) are all trying to actually PAY his medical bills rather than him filing bankruptcy.

As I said, we will go and fork over the $1800 this trip will cost. Thanks for your input :)

Wow, that was a close call for your dh!!! Glad it turned out well. Also glad you are opting for the 'correct' thing to do. Yes, it's an addtl financial burden but think of the wonderful messege you'll be sending your dd....you followed the rules even if it meant paying a bit extra. Good for you!!!!
And good for you guys in trying to handle the medical bills!! that's a tough row to hoe. You're doing the right thing, once again!!!! :thumbsup2

Glad the Dad is doing better and that you are doing the right things (both paying the bills and for the 3 year old). Have a great time.

Hope these responses stop rolling in. I don't have to worry about making this kind of decision because ds will only be 18 months when we go. Don't feel bad for asking. Somewhere out there I am sure there are plenty of people who not only think about it but do it. Glad your dh is better. Have a great time on your trip.

Just think of it as paying for peace of mind. You won't have to worry when you approach the line as to whether they will ask you or ask her..what would she say..what happens if she tells them the truth..what will they do..what would you do..etc. Now you can just breeze through without a care in the world and enjoy your day.

Have fun!

I got flamed for DS turning 3 the week before we left. Anyways, glad you chose to get the ticket. Now ppl can leave you in peace. Have fun :wizard:

well said - for me that lack of stress and peace of mind would be well worth the $100 - which is still a bargin if it means that IF my little one wanted something from the menu, i could get it for them.

glad your DH is recovering and your family is able to do something nice to mark the accomplishment. I hope you have a great time with lots of memories to take home with you.
