Can you freeze bread?

Oh yes, I freeze all sorts of bread items - homemade, store bought, bagels, English muffins, normal muffins, etc.

It freezes great and comes out fresh. I've had 10 loaves in our freezer at one point!

Wow freezing sounds like a very popular choice! I didn't even think about freezing bagels! I'm always bummed when my fav bagels are on sale, because I know if I buy a second sleeve, they'll just go bad!

Thanks for all your help!

You can also freeze milk. Open the jug, pour out about a half cup, recap and freeze, let thaw in fridge or in house for a few hours, you must remove a bit to give room for expansion

If I'm making sandwiches with the frozen bread, I don't even thaw it out. I just make the sandwich in the am, and by lunch time it's thawed out.

My experience has been if I put the bread in the fridge it gets stale, but if it goes straight to the freezer it's fine. I don't thaw out the whole loaf, just what I need - a couple minutes on the counter and it's soft enough for anything.

I freeze bread, too. But I always put a paper towel in the bag with it. - It attracts any moisture so the bread doesn't get freezer burn. I thaw the whole loaf right on the counter.

I freeze bread, english muffins, bagels. As a matter of fact some Lenders bagels are sold in the freezer section here as well. You can even freeze pillsbury ready to bake cookies before you bake them.

I always have bread in the freezer. Since dh goes thru a loaf every 2 days, it bugs me when I don't have extra in the freezer. And I am not running to the store every 5 minutes!! We also freeze buns, bagels, english muffins, I froze pillsbury cookies once bc I had gotten a ton 80% off after halloween. LOL, still taste the same and you can cook from frozen!

Yep, freezes well. We always get the Kirkland brand two loaf package at Costco and I just throw the second loaf in the freezer.

dh and dd will only eat white bread, so we go through a lot of that. I like whole grain, but only eat it every couple of days so I freeze the loaf. It tastes as good as fresh once thawed.

Ditto. Except I have DH switched to whole grains. I think, when older DD goes to university this year, I'll work on the youngest. It would be nice to have to buy just one kind, although, I'll have a loaf of white in the freezer for grilled cheese-which for me, needs to be on white. :confused3

I always buy a few loaves at a time and freeze the extras immediately. They go bad in the refrigerator, but if you allow a frozen loaf to thaw unopened, it will be as good as new.

The only bread I buy is BJ's Berkley & Jensen bread. It's 2 loaves (each individually packaged inside 1 larger bag. It is about $3.50 for the 2 loaves. We love the bread because it is 'sturdy'..doesn't rip when you put peanut butter on it;) and makes the best toast.
I always toss one of the bags in the freezer. It always tastes just as fresh as the first non-frozen one.
