Can you find cheap gifts for classmates in WDW?

I think that's rather rude. If someone wants to bring you something back from their vacation and gets it from the dollar store because it has the theme of their vacation I think that is a nice gesture of them to do that. Wow!

Sorry, I am going to disagree. I have 3 kids of my own. I have plenty of dollar store crap from Birthday party gift bags, school parties etc..

If you really want to get the children a small gift from your trip...fine...
but to get cheap dollar store crap from the store in your own town, just so your kid can come home from vacation and hand it out is a cheap crappy way of tryng to show off.
I don't need any more crappy dollar store pencils (Have you tried to sharpen them?? I swear, they always break on us)

Sorry.. I just do not understand why anyone thinks my kid wants stuff from your vacation.

If getting a gift at all, I really like the idea of getting a "classroom gift"

I know our teachers (elem school) are always looking for "rainy day" games to have on hand for indoor recess. Something unique apart from the everyday dominoes, etc... might be appreciated.

Or does your teacher have a class wish list? Maybe get something off that "disney-fied" Like if she wants playing cards, get disney playing cards.

And I guess regional. But I have 3 kids in elementary school, and none have recieved souvineers when friends go on vacay.

Still, I think you could get more "bang for your buck" with a class gift worth $10-15... than stickers, pencils, candies. Just another thot...

Now this is a great idea.

I HATE those pencils. I even asked the parents on Back to School Night to please not send in those pencils with their child, unless they sharpen them at home first. Those things break in my sharpener....absolutely horrible! :headache:

I REALLY like the idea of the big bag of Mickey pretzels!

I'm going to steal it (I mean the idea) for when we go in October. My DD's teacher said that they are always in need of community snacks and these would be something a little different/fun. :thumbsup2

First of all.... I can't believe how petty and rude some of these comments are! A gift for each of your childs classmates is a VERY nice gesture. Of all the years my DD has been in Elementary school.... whenever a student goes on vacation they always bring a little something special for all the kids. My friend is a teacher at an elementary school and even she brings back little gifts for her students. It usually ends up being the suckers or chocolate coins and all of my DD's teachers let her take time to "share" her trip with the class... my friend does the same thing with her classroom! As for buying gifts just for your child's closest friend?? I know that other kids DO find out and there IS hurt feelings. Kids don't keep secrets well and it will cause more of a problem. I think I saw someone say that the teacher sends along a few fun things to do, which is what all of my DD's teachers did for her and she had to report back to the class what she had to do with her activity sheets. I'd say if you have the extra money and you want to buy each classmate a little gift, by all means go for it! All the kids will  the gift!!! Enjoy your trip :cool1:!

My kids bring back the twisty type lollipops. There is usually 6 in the bag. They are individually wrapped. Find at Goofy candy place and all the kids love them.

I also think that getting a class gift is a good idea. Last year my son picked out a book at disney and gave it to the teacher when we got back so that she could share it with the class.

Agreed.

For those that have been nice enough to answer my question about suggestions of a cheap gift to purchase, I appreciate it!
You all have given me some great ideas!

Thanks again! :)

We don't bring gifts for school but sometimes for friends. DD likes the small unicorn lolipops, they are the spiral long pops. The kids love them and they are only $2.99 for a pack of 6.

WOw I agree. Some people are SO RUDE. My kids (1st grade and preschool) will probably get stuff for their class. Nothing big. Thankfully the total is only like 30.

I ALSO TAUGHT MY KIDS TO APPRECIATE ANYTHING SOMEONE GIVES THEM. Ya know that old "it's the thought that counts" apparently not everyone goes by that motto.

We usually bring back stuff from EPCOT, for the class, usually some food from the shop in Japan, and they all get to taste it at snack time, we ve never had a complaint.

Sorry if I come across rude. The suggestions of bringing a little treat back is OK, bringing a game or book for the class, even better.
What got me is the suggestion of going to the Dollar store for cheap pencils. That is not right...sorry... if you want to bring something back from vacation go ahead if it makes you happy. if you are going to the nearby store to buy crap for my kids so your child can pretend they got it on vacation....no thank you.
If that is rude...sorry...

I agree with you. I think it's kind of cool to get something from Florida or Hawaii or Maine..or whatnot..it can be kind of cool for a kid. Heck, it's cool for me and I am an adult. If you are just going to get the gift at the local store, I wouldn't bother. I agree, I know what Walmart, Target, and Dollar Tree carries so unless it's something unusual save your money.

I do agree with you about the dollar store stuff, but it was the way that you worded it that sounded unkind. I think a choice of words could've made your point come across a little better and not as rude.

I also think the classroom gift would be better appreciated.
That one idea of candy from Japan is great only how about going one better. Pick up something from a few different countries, like some maple candy from Canada, rice candy from Japan, tequila from Mexico (just trying to see who is paying attention)
When I used to take my boys out of school I always brought something home for the kids in their classes but it was never something we bought.
We always took a day or two to spend at the beach. In Naples and Venice you can find sharks teeth along the beach. I would buy copper wire and wrap the teeth or have the older kids do it and gave them a piece of leather (that plastic gimp, or thin ribbon would work too). The kids all loved these and it didn't cost me much at all.
One year we found some nice shells and picked some air fern off some of the trees and with a small amount of hot glue stuck it into the shells and gave them to the teachers. They loved them and all they have to do is mist the air fern once in a while. The fern will live for years. Not sure if this is against any FL laws but that fern grows everywhere, worse than weeds. We got the idea from seeing these for sale in the stores everywhere down in FL. You can get the shells and sharks teeth in the shell factory too if you want.

You forgot to mention Beer from Germany! :lmao:

We've all had days that we say something that doesn't come out right  I never brought anything back for the class but I like all the suggestions and might think about the book, pretzels or candy next time.

I would skip the pencil idea. Am I the only mom who has tons of holiday or themed pencils from kids' party treat bags laying around my house? I like the candy idea :).
