Can you enjoy things close by....

Hi we are on a very tight budget and were wondering if you can enjoy the beaches and shopping close by the ship? You know without having to use taxi's or anything. If we need to use the taxi how much is it? Thanks for all your help you guys

yes u can if u r going on the seven day ,
there is a beach walking distance from the ship, on st. martins
and u can walk to the shopping areas on st. martins and st. Thomas

Don't rule out staying on the ship while in port. We were on a repeat eastern cruise in Feburary, trying to enjoy some R & R after some trying times at home. We made a quickie trip into town on St. Maarten, took a quick walk on St. Thomas, and we didn't even disembark at Castaway Cay. The ship is delightfully empty on port days. We had almost no company at the pools, and dining was very enjoyable--especially on CC day. I believe there were only about 20 people at lunch in Parrot Cay while we were there.

This is not to say that visiting the ports is not good. Sometimes, though, you just need to relax. It's pretty nice on the ship EVERY day.

We didn't do any excusions on the 7 day Eastern, but went to the beach on our own...caught a taxi right by the ship for $4-7 per person depending on ages...the same cab driver picked us up at the end of our beach day at the time we told him to and took us back to the ship.

Relaxing sounds great We have had a hard year with layoff's and downtime. My dad gave us this cruise, that is the only reason we can go. Sooooooooooo very thankful. We are in another downtime so we will not have much to spend, but want to enjoy as much as we can. I keep hope for that prize check, that always goes to someone else, not sad though just figure they needed it more than me Please keep sending idea's. You guys are truely great.
