Can you dye uncooked eggs?

I've never tried it, but I was thinking about giving it a shot this year. Of course, I'll have to be extra-extra careful with them and no egg fights....but neither of my boys eat hard boiled eggs in any form, and a dozen eggs is a bit much for me. However, they'll eat scrambled eggs till the cows come home.....so I wonder.........has anyone ever tried to dye uncooked eggs before?

PS--I should specify, uncooked eggs still in the shells.

Apparently it is fine, but check for oil on the shells. Have fun.

How about poking holes in each end with a nail, blowing out the egg into a bowl to be scrambled and then decorate the eggs?
