If you have a car... and are a resort guest... can you just drive to the parks? Where would you park? At MK this would be the T&T center... but what about the other 3? Is it free for guests? Is this a fairly common practice or do ppl rely on the transportation options more?
Thank you!

1. Of course.

2 & 3. At the lot next to the park, except for MK which has the TTC.

4. Onsite guests and AP holders yes, everyone else no.

5. Yes, a common practice.

We always drive when we rent a car. I think disney transportation takes too long

Yes, you can drive to all the parks. Parking for MK is at the TTC. Parking for resort guests is free, but if you're staying off-site it's approximately $15 per day.

We always drive. I like having a car because it gives you more flexability for getting to the park and leaving (either at closing, or if you just want to go back to the room for a while, or to another park). You don't have to wait for other resort guests to be dropped off first. I think it's quicker.

Thank you! I think it just slipped my mind that driving would even be an option when you're there amid a slew of internal transport options. We will have to do this more often. Particularly when we don't want to deal w a possibly late bus.

Yes, you can certainly drive to the parks if you want.

Guests staying onsite at a Walt Disney World resort get a parking pass in their welcome packet. Just put that on your dashboard and you will be waived through the parking plazas at the parks without having to pay the $15 parking fee.

Driving is generally believed to be quicker for all parks except MK, which has the added overhead of getting from TTC to MK. Resort buses go straight to the MK gates and bypass TTC completely.

In my experience, taking your own car is almost always quicker when going to the Animal Kingdom, Epcot, or Disney's Hollywood Studios.

The Magic Kingdom is usually slightly quicker on average to take a Disney bus since if you take your own car you have to park, wait for a tram, wait for a monorail or ferry boat, and then finally arrive at the entrance gates. When you take a Disney bus to the Magic Kingdom, it drops you off directly at the entrance gate bus loop.

Of course, there are some resorts which you can take a boat to DHS or Epcot, and that might be quicker than driving. But in general, I think the above is a good rule of thumb.

If we have the MK in the rotation we will not drive. We do drive to DAK because our resort bus stops at Blizzard Beach too. That adds even more time. Depending on when we go the DHS, we may or may not drive. We tend to have poorer parking places there versus Epcot.

Yes, you can drive, park for free as a resort guest, and absolutely DO IT. We always drive to the parks, sometimes we will take the bus to MK, because its pretty time consuming to park there.

Since your signature says you will be staying at the Contemporary Resort you will find walking over to the Mk is the fastest way to arrive there. The Contemporary Resort is a great place to stay as you avoid the crowd at closing of the Magic Kingdom since you don't need to wait for a monorail or boat or bus.
