Can you do some days no park hopper and some days with PH?

We're going down in August and I bought a 5 day park ticket w/o hopper. Our first day will be at DHS all day and we will be seeing Fantasmic that night. We planned on all day & night on day 2 at MK but for days 3 & 4 we had only planned on the day at MK and Epcot and day 5 was going to be decided that morning based on which park we need to finish. I'd like the option to be able to go back at night or not or do a different park at night but I don't want to pay for a 5 day PH since I know we won't be hopping two of those days. Can I get some days or do I have to buy all days?

All days on the ticket have to have the same options (hopper or non-hopper). The only way to have a mixture of non-hoppers and hoppers is to have physically two different tickets, which probably isn't the most cost-effective solution.

That's what I thought. What if on my last day I wanted to upgrade, would they let me change the one day?

Yes...but the price is based on the length of the ticket, not the days remaining. So it would cost the same to add the PH option on the first day as it would if you add it on the last day. Basically for a 5-day PH, it would cost $64 (plus tax) regardless of when you add the option.

Yeah, I don't think it's worth $300 for the three days I may or may not want to hop. That's like 2-3 meals. Oh well.

There's only $14 difference per ticket for park hopper on a 2 day vs a 5 day ticket... probably not worth stressing over

When I read these kinds of statements, I always assume the poster is adding up the costs of multiple tickets to get a grand total.
(And, yes, it is very confusing to try to help when that happens.)

Please, can't we just talk about one ticket at a time?
I can't get too excited about it costing "$1,800 extra" if a guest is traveling with a group of 28 people.
EVERYTHING costs a TON if you buy it for 28 guests.

Yes, it would be for three tickets. Even at 68.18 each, that's still over $200. Which wouldn't be worth it to me to hop for only one or two days.

What is the point of hopping just for the sake of hopping? Yes, if you need or want to go to more than one park per day, a PH is great. But hopping often, just to justify the price of a hopper? Kind of like going to a buffet and gorging yourself long after you're full, just because of the price of the meal.

Many families have to seriously consider the cost of PHs for every member, when they might only use it a couple of times.

The good think is that the OP can, if she chooses, wait until they have a day or 2 under their belts, before deciding whether the extra expense would really enhance their vacation or not.
