Can you do Disney CP while classified as full-time student?

My daughter is going to check into the program at her school, but I am not clear about one big issue. To keep her insurance she needs to be classified as a full-time student, which means 12 semester hours in fall and spring. So, if she did any sort of co-op or intern at WDW it would need to be during summer or else there would need to be enough credit given that she could maintain her student status.

Is this possible?

I think it would be pretty hard to do although I suppose its not impossible.

We just took our daughter off the insurance and bought a separate policy for her -- actually it ended up almost being a wash.

Is there a summer only program? She doesn't have to take classes during the summer so it wouldn't be a problem then.

I am just a little paranoid about the insurance issue, since now we have excellent coverage and no worries with pre-existing conditions, etc.

If not, this might be something she does after she finishes her degree. She is classified as a junior, although this is only her second year, so she is ahead of the game.

No - no summer program except for alumni of the program (and that is just a needed).

My daughter does have a preexisting condition and she can go back and forth with her dad's insurance -- he checked into this in advance.

If she does the College Program as a co-op she should still be classified as a full time student while doing the co-op. That's what I'll be doing this spring because I have to be a full-time student too.

Great! She's going to meet with the campus rep next week, but I am dying of curiousity in the meantime!

It might depend on your school, but I am going to be able to keep my full-time student status and be able to keep scholarships, etc. while I am gone even though I don't get credit for doing the program. Good luck!

This was a major concern for my parents as well. I stayed a full time student. I got my advisor to approve 6 internship credits, 3 independent study credits, and I took an online class. It was perfect. Good luck.

It is possible to be considered a full-time student and do the college program. One must talk to their advisor to see if any of the Disney classes will transfer as credit whether it is an internship or an actually class for their major. There are also options of taking online classes through their university or college and even through a different college. The main thing is just to talk to their teachers and find out. When I did my first college program (I'm going to start my second one in January) I was able to get 12 hours just by going on the program and taking one of the classes at Disney. There have also been others who have gotten up to 15 hours of college credit (Internship credits, independent study credits, class credits)

I'm going and staying a full time student, but my school is giving me 12 credits for the program.

At my school you have to be a FT student to do the CP. I got 11 credits on my first and 8 on my second. Also, I needed to be FT to stay on my parent's insurance.
