Can you do Dining Plan if you're renting DVC points?

We're renting points 2/26 - 3/3, and then moving over to AKL for 2-3 nights. When I went to Disney's website for AKL package info, the wysiwyg let me purchase up to 10 day park tickets, plus the 2-3 nights dining. My question is, since we are going to the VWL first, can we still use our park tickets then, or would they make us wait until we check into AKL? (which, then is a deal-breaker for us.)
