I was just curious if the mummy compares to either of these rides. SO I can figure out if I will ride it. :rotfl2: I love EE and ride RR but hate the way it blasts off. THe rest I am good with.

I think its about same speed as EE. It is not too fast. Does not go upside down like RR but does have sorta a launch. Ride it and see if you like it. If you can handle EE then I think you can handle this ride.

Well its not the launch.... It starts out slow as a dark ride. Its a super fun ride and I cannot think of a coaster alike it to compare it to. I rode it 5 times last time I was there and in a month and 7 days I will ride it atleast another 5 times!!! I also dont know what freaks you out about the launch with RnR cuz its great but if its the speed, this coaster is slower. I cannot find the actual speed of the coaster but I think I remember 40 mph ish? I like this launch moreso then RnR if that helps you any.

there are many videos on youtube for the mummy ride.
some are very good and others just okay.

with so many people taping the ride while they are on it, you have to know it is not all that bumpy or the mummy would be full of video cameras and cell phones used to record what has been posted on the net.

man, what a pathetic sentence i just wrote.
my high school english teacher would faint.....

I believe EE goes backwards where Mummy does not. Mummy has much better theming than EE. RNR is the best out of the three as far as a thrill ride. If you do not like fast launches , beware of the Hulk. That is similar to RNR launch. Awesome!!! Just remember to breath and you will be fine! LOL!!!

Mummy does go backwards. Do not beware of the hulk its awesome ride it!!! :) :)

I'd say that as far as intensity goes (which is what you're concerned about, right?) I think that Rock n Roller Coaster is the most intense, and Mummy and Everest are tied. Rock n Roller Coaster's launch is more aggressive (60 mph in under 4 seconds) and gives you a weird feeling in your stomach like "OH I CAN'T TAKE THIS!!". Mummy's launch doesn't give you that feeling, it's slower (45 mph but is already moving when the magnets activate) and it doesn't head straight into an inversion like Rock n Roller Coaster.

Mummy is also completely in the dark, unlike Everest, but what gets people sick on Everest (the backwards in the dark segment) is almost absent on Mummy; it's only backwards sequence is a quick drop about ten feet down and then it rotates back to forward motion. The only way Mummy is aggressive is it's insane airtime at the top of the first hill (the one you get launched from) that literally throws you against your lap bar. It's also never going in one direction for more than five seconds--you make many directional changes, most of which aren't too bad, except for the first and last drops which throw you to the weird guy sitting next to you. It also has lots of VERY sudden stops, and its theming gets pretty scary (subliminal images of 'monster mummies' during the roller coaster finale, creepy sets and animatronics during the dark ride part).

Hope this helps:goodvibes

metro west and mcraven :worship: Thank you. My dd 10 yrs old and I have just decided to do it! We've done EE but she does have heart condition, and scares easily. Looking at you tube we laughed and screamed together. We r going mar.14-21 and if it gets too scary, she can close her eyes and know it's only going 45 mph as opposed to ee going 50mph if she can do ee than I think she can do ROTM. :cool1:

Mummy really doesn't have a fast launch. I think it is comparable to Space Mountain more than EE in intensity.

ok buckeyeguy now I'm scared again. :confused3 Decisions, decisions. We've never seen the movie. dd took mumification in science and knows all organs have been removed so she is pretty hard to fool knowing parts inside are hollow. pretty gross how they mumify... oh boy, The drops are 50 degrees, and I think there are 3 or 4? We are wusses. RNR we did and NEVER AGAIN for me. She says it was fun, but passed on doing it again so what does that tell ya?:rotfl:

Isn't the backwards part really slow as compared to EE, though? EE definitely is fast going backwards. I thought the first time I rode Mummy it went pretty fast for the some section it went backwards but a few weekends ago it was very slow in the backwards section. Is it just me and my feeble memory or did it used to go faster?

Nah your right the backwards part is nearly nothing except it just makes a sudden stop which I hate. I am curious if the controller of the ride has any say in how fast it may go back and how sudden the stop is because I cant recall if its the exact same each time or not.

Should see the first 2 movies, they are great! Imo you should see all the movies with the rides though it adds fun to it.

Tbh if you rly think of it basically like a movie set, the effects are nothing to be afraid of and you rly only have to worry about the big scary fast coaster.(joking its not that bad) This coaster honestly gets better every time I ride it. I was so disappointed first time I rode it with everyone saying how good it was but it did not stop me from going on it more and more and last trip I had the most fun on that ride out of everything we did in both Disney and Universal.

Fun coaster.... If she enjoyed the youtube video then I am sure she can handle this ride especially if she can handle RnR. No loops but you can get some serious air on this ride.

hmmmm still talking Mummy are we??? :rotfl2: Well I have decided...let dh, ds 15 and dd 18 ride it first. That is what I usually do and then they talk me into it. :rotfl: I hate RR for that launch but from what I have read here ....I think the mummy ride will be less intense.

Ride it. It is a blast.

I am the biggest coaster wuss in the world. I have ridden Hulk once due to a bet that I lost to my then 12 year old son (which is also why I have the tag I do.) That was enough for me.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Mummy. You can't keep me off of it. A perfect day in Universal for me would be running back and forth between MIB and Mummy and throw in a Horror Show or two.

If I can enjoy it, anybody can.
