Hi everyone!
I keep going back and forth as to when i want to go and when I should book something. Can anyone compare/contrast January to March for me based on costs/crowds/weather? We have APs and probably would want to spend in the value or moderate category this time around. I feel like I've thought of things quite a bit, but maybe I just need a firm shove in one direction! :rotfl2:

Pros/Cons:
January- In January our dates are more flexible. We can go anytime between the 1st and the 24th. I teach at a community college and I am home the whole month. The costs are usually less and airfare from Rochester, NY is quite a bit less right now for January than March. However, it is close to the holidays as far as money goes and doesn't give a lot of time (or a tax refund) to save up extra spending cash and the weather is probably iffy.

March- In March we can only go on my spring break March13-21. We are limited to this one week so we are not as flexible. The costs are considerably more for airfare in March during the dates we are looking at but it also gives us more money saving time and probably better weather. Also bigger crowds.

Does anyone have an opinion they wouldnt mind sharing with me? :confused3

Thanks!

We went in March a few years ago, and we found it crowded but not unmanageable. We are considering another March trip in 2010 (same dates as yours), but I am more concerned about the crowds this time. We were hoping to stay at the Swan, so I called to check prices. There is NO AVAILABILITY at either the Swan or the Dolphin, at any rate level, on those dates! I was shocked! I asked if there were conventions there that week, and the reservationist said yes.

I don't know how much that will impact the parks, but I'm sure many of those people will be bringing their families and going to Disney. Then again, I wonder how many other times we went to Disney when there were conventions and sold-out hotels, and we didn't even know it. Not sure what we are going to do. I have never been in January, so I cannot make that comparison for you.

Thanks for the info. I am also worried about the March crowds. We made a ressie for our dates at POR to just be holding something while we decide what the heck we want to do. I am worried about weather and crowds in January too.

Anybody know what to expect Marathon weekend or MLK weekend?

I have been at both times. I guess its just a matter of WHAT is more important to YOU!

March is spring break time....rates high, crowds higher, warmer temps, flowers are starting to bloom!

January weather can be really unpredictable (warm one day, freezing the next), crowds are low, park hours are shorter and more rides closed for refurbishment, rates are cheaper.

Any time you can go is a good time! Figure out what is most important to you and make a ressie!!!!
