Granted you have paid a high price for a great vacation even if its just a value resort....just spent 7 days at the Pop and it was an awesome vacation as always. But truly the worst dining experience ever in 26 years... and I don't mean the food! Yes the food court could use some serious sprucing up...carpets..booths etc. But having stayed there before you are prepared not to expect the Poly or BLT. What I wasn't prepared for this trip was the out and out carelessness of the guests who would just leave their trash and garbage on the table and walk away! It wasnt one or two tables. One day my dd and I counted over 10 tables just in our section alone.
I was so upset to see the lack of consideration that I actually started clearing up trash myself on our last day.
I am grateful to have a place like the Pop to stay when we cant afford our favorite deluxe. I don't care where you are from ..your financial situation ...or your sense of false entitlement ...there is never room for lack of manners anywhere in life. Please clean up for the next family to enjoy! Its simply called manners!

Dining at Pop was my biggest complaint- food was fine, service was fine but the dining area was a disaster any time we went.

The carpet is beyond filthy and it just looks worn out. I don't care if it's a value or the highest price Deluxe, it should be in top notch condition.

Maybe because of the shape it's in, people just don't much care how sloppy they are. I think the idea of if you keep a place in good condition, people will respect it and help keep it clean is pretty solid.

I wish that was true, but some people are just horses you know what. On our last visit to WL we were hanging out in the lobby. A very nice dressed couple comes up from roaring fork, eats half of their meals on a couch, then just gets up and leaves without taking their trays. A cast member came by and I made a comment, she said that it happens all the time.

That is so sad. It would be hard to keep up a cheerful attitude with having to deal with that all day. it only takes a few seconds to keep things clean and throw out the trash. I recall seeing a slob on the poly beach leave his revolting beer bottles right in the sand! :scared1: I threw them away! He also left a huge mess in the cl! Just plain gross and low class.

I totally agree.

But I am sure sooner or later some yahoo will come along and play the "It is what they get paid to do" card.

It only takes a few seconds to load up your tray and take it with you. When DH and I want a few extra minutes we have the kids take most of the garbage while we sit. This way the busser can come over to wipe it off quickly for the next family.

My biggest complaint about the values is the food court. Huge groups save multiple tables when they go to get food. At busy times it is so packed you cannot sit down. I always go at off times and like it much better.

I agree, it happens at all resorts, but I've stayed at many of them and not one could compare to the Pop as far as just plain gross and disgusting as far as cleanliness in the dining area.

That carpet didn't get dirty overnight and no matter how filthy the guests are, and I agree some people are just slobs, it's up to Disney to keep their standards of cleanliness up.

^^This. I started clearing our table at AoA & my MIL in an exasperated tone "They pay people to do that!' In my head my response was 'I'd like to set a better example for my children than that.' What came out was 'I'm pretty sure that I'm capable of picking up my own crap.' Let's just say that it's the last time she'll be inviting herself along on our family vacation.

We had planned a weeks vacation at POP. Checked in late afternoon kids were hungry so went straight to the food court. WOW!!! Crowded and chaotic like you can't imagine. When received our food and proceeded to to kids area in front of the tv with cartoons on. Gross I mean Gross to the point we stayed only one night woke up and change resorts. WL wow what a great resort. So much for saving a few bucks. Will never stay at a value resort again they've lost the disney magic seems to be just catered to huge unruly groups and people who just don't care.

I agree, it's chaotic beyond belief.

That area of the dining room is exactly what I'm talking about. It was so filthy I wouldn't allow my grandson to sit at the kiddie tables and made sure he didn't get down on the carpet at all. One should NOT have to take those precautions when staying at a Disney resort.

I know a lot of people will say it is what it is, a value. An inexpensive alternative, but I don't think it's too much to ask that they keep the place in decent condition.

We normally don't stay at values, but we want to try a more themed area for my grandson so we're giving AOA suites a try. We're hoping against hope that it's a good choice, but it's our last try at values.

If there are garbage cans and places for your tray in public, you clean up your own things. If it's "in the back" like a standard resturant they should do it (employees) I agree I find it embarasing as a human to see people leave garbage or put their feet on furnature in public. I think it's always happened just with smart phones and message boards it's more common and easier to hear about it

So sorry to hear of this problem in the food court. I occasionally stay at POP when I want a day or two extra after my DVC points are used up. I rarely saw this on my visits.

Totally agree. We had the same experience in the food court at Pop, and avoided it all costs. Such a shame, because I'd read really positive things about the food court there, but we certainly didn't have a positive experience!

You will have a great time at AOA! We stayed there last year and found the food court to be significantly better than Pop, so much so, we walked over to the AOA food court a few times instead of using Pop's this year!

or maybe they don't bother keeping it in top condition as the patrons don't respect it even when it is brand spanky new. I have seen it happen.

a hundred thousand years ago when I worked in retail, I had a similar experience. we had these long tables where sale stuff was put out. I worked in the Bed and Bath department so inevitably the towels would get unfolded and tossed back all sloppy. I watched a woman totally destroy a table.( I mean seriously, i know you want to look for pulls and whatnot on your $18 bath towel, but is is SOOO hard to TRY and fold it back up? ) well she walked away( without grabbing anything I might add) leaving it looking like the dogs had had a wrestling match in the middle of the table. her SON.. who couldn't have been more than ten, asked her " aren't you going to fix the table? her reply as she stared right at me" that's what they get paid to do."

so of course as soon as she leaves I mosey on over and spend the next 20 minutes making it purty again.. and when I finally finished she was standing at the register tapping her foot impatiently( couldn't see from where I was).

"its about time you showed up" in a nasty tone.

my reply? "Oh I am soo sorry, but a customer totally made a huge mess on one of my tables and I had to spend my time cleaning up after her and couldn't monitor the cash register" knowing full well who said customer was. the kid's smirk was worth the glare I got.

Thanks, sounds very encouraging! We're going with an open mind and giving it every chance. Either way I'm sure we'll have a great time. My grandson is a huge cars fan and he won't care how messy or busy it is.

I despise people who don't clean off their own tables in food courts and QS restaurants. You don't have to scrub the table down, but if you can't even throw out your own trash, that's just lazy, rude, and gross.

On my recent trip, I had a really hard time finding a table at any QS restaurant I visited that wasn't dirty. And I saw CMs running around cleaning - they just couldn't keep up with the volume of lazy guests! :crazy2:

I also clean up my table when I'm done.

However I don't see people leaving trash any more or less at Disney then I do in the real world so honestly I don't get worked up about it while on vacation.

I do however hate the leave it in the hallway stuff and it annoys the heck out of me when hotels do not monitor that more closely.

I do think that the majority of the stuff in the hallways comes from housekeeping taking it out of the rooms they clean and then just leaving it in the hall so the hotel should know they need to bus the halls.
