We might have to cancel a 2 bedroom trip we have booked, we had borrowed 99 points for the big trip.

My plan was to still go and stay in a studio, its family members that might not be able to go now.

I have 2 home resorts, the 99 borrowed points are from BW.
I wanted to book a studio at GF that i own at but want to book ahead before the 7 month window to secure the room we want. So i cant use the borrowed BW points.

When the 7 month window comes up, Can Member Services switch which points im using on the reservation without having to Cancel the room and Rebook?

Hopefully that made sense
Thanks

Only if the studio is still available to book at the 7 month mark. You can’t circumvent 11 month home resort priority!

Member services can move the points for you as long are in your 7-month window.

It will work if the room still have nights available. The contract used for the home resort booking will be locked. That means it has to be used first.

Now, the good news is that if any of the nights are available it will pull from the borrowed points to cover those nights.

But, you can’t use VGF points to secure early and then just swap.

You cannot switch points in a reservation made using the 11 -month window (anytime before 7 months out) at 7-months out with points from another resort unless your reservation is still separately available to members in general at the time you want to make the change, and even then you may have to call MS to do it.

Just to share, I have been able to modify online within 7 months and the system will pick up restricted points for any nights still available, even if all nights are not available.

It may because it sees it as a new booking, but it is definitely possible to do that online. I have done it several times over the years.

My experience with switching points: I had booked 3 bed at Aulani for 10 days using a combo of points from 2 contracts. Decided to sell one of the contracts I had used for the Aulani booking, in order to switch those points I had used to some other points I had, they had to cancel whole reservation and rebook. Luckily for me 3 bed there is not in huge demand at the time of my trip.
