Can you change the names on a reservation?

I have a reservation but qont be able to take the trip, is it possible to change the names on the reservation so that someone else might use it or would I need to cancel it and make a new one?

You can change any or all names without cancelling. When I book multiple rooms, in order to speed up the process, I often book 2 or 3 in my name and then get the appropriate family added later.

Just send ms an email via the member website removing name and providing the new names and contact info as if you were booking online. They will email you back in a couple of days confirming the changes.

You can also call member services and they will do it for you, esp if you need to break up the reservation.

I thought they quit doing that a couple of years ago. My understanding was now it was a cancel for the dropped days then rebooking if available.

My friend said he had to break up a reservation for between nov 15-20 (next week). One person has nov 15-18 and another person was 18-20. He said did it over the phone yesterday. It was a last minute thing.

Maybe I misheard and he did it online?

I've done before but a number have reported not being able to do so the last 2-3 years.

Cannot do it online where the only thing you can do in that situation is cancel entire reservation and try to make two new ones subject to availability. It appears DVC has either reverted back to prior practice or, and this is always a possibility, some at MS are allowing it because they are not aware of prior rule change.
