Can you cancel DDP?

Hi there...

My husband and I made arrangements through CAA in January for our upcoming trip in December. We did not even consider getting the DDP until our travel agent suggested it to us. She told us that it was the best way to go. Well, after thinking again about whether or not it would be a good fit, I was wondering if we could cancel it from our trip. We've only paid $200 (deposit) and our balance isn't due til October. I was thinking of getting one of those Disney gift cards and loading it up with a few hundred dollars. This way, our meals will still be prepaid, but it will give us the flexibility to eat where ever we want and not be tied down with so many table service ADR's. I want to relax on our trip and not have to worry about taking the time out everyday for a TS meal and making it to our ADR on time. Has anybody else cancelled before hand and did you have any problems doing so?

Yes, you can cancel. I think you have up to 72 hours before the trip to make the change, but if you are sure do it right away. There may be a rule that within a 45 day window, if you are making a change to cancel something they will charge you $50. Do it asap. I like your gift card idea. Great idea.

You can...I have...but then turned around and added it back on. I agree with your CAA TA...I think it is the best way to go as well if you plan on eating at least 1 TS a day, and we do!
