Just wondering if this can be done? And does anyone know what the maximum amount of points that can be bought solely on a credit card?

Yep. I put my add on solely on my credit card. It was 50 points. I would think the limit would be whatever your credit limit is

We paid for ours with our Disney Visa (for the points - we bought 150) and then paid it off when the bill came in.

Wow...thanks for the quick replies!! When we bought our original 170 point OKW contract in 1998 Disney would only allow us to put a down payment on the credit card (which we paid in full on the next billing cycle) and then we financed the rest. I guess they have changed that. My Citibank card has 4.9% financing on new purchases for the next year which is a better rate than financing through Disney.:cool1:

I wish I had known this! I have always sent a check! This is the last time I will do that. I thought it had to be just the downpayment. Thanks for sharing. :thumbsup2

We buy with credit cards that earn us free airfare. As long as I buy new contracts every couple of years, we will never have to pay for a airline ticket again. ::yes::

Never done anything else !

We've bought at Boardwalk, twice over the phone and last time on Board the Disney Magic !

Trying to transfer money from UK is just hassle !

Phil :)

I've paid the deposit and the remaining balance of my last 2 contracts (115 points each) on my Gold Amex (yes, they even take Amex). No problem!

I get nice flight rewards for doing that too!

I bought 250 points on a Visa direct from DVC in 1999. They split it into 2 payments so that I would not exceed my credit limit, one immediate and one a month later before closing. I had the money from other sources, I ran it through an AOL Visa to get the points (I got 7 months free AOL).

We used our Airtran card for our 200pt purchase and then financed it via home equity loan. We ended up getting 4 free round trips out of that. Then we just moved so the DVC loan is now paid off! YEAH

We just paid for ours on the disney visa card. 160 points at AKL. I just i new that the down payment (up to $2500) would be interest free for 6 months.

I bought my last two contracts on a Disney Visa. Both were paid in full (not a down payment).

There is no limit. We purchase our AKV on our master card and got 1 1/2% cash back and then we transfered the balance to Discover and financed it over 1 year at o%. It was a pretty good deal.

What is the percentage Disney offers?

The only issue with applying the balance to a credit card ,that I can see, would be if you carry the balance greater than a year. I don't think you could claim the interest paid on the credit card for your taxes. Right now, the interest on my balance is at least partially deductible.

Hmmm...my AMEX pays a 3% reward for travel, I wonder if there's anyway to get it classified in that category?

So, could you put the down payment on your Disney Visa and qualify for the $500 promo running right now, but then pay the balance with another credit card (trying to have my cake and eat it too!)?
