Can you buy a contract that has transferred points on it?

We were thinking about buying a contract from a seller that has points on it, but they are not original to that contract. They were transferred in from somewhere else. If we buy the contract, will we have access to those points?

I don't think I would touch that. Why would someone 'pay' to have points transferred in then try to sell their contract. Buyer beware.

I think you're making too big of an assumption. This could simply be someone with multiple use years who transferred points to make a reservation, but then decided to sell and cancelled the reservation.

As long as the points are listed in the contract, you should be fine.

Be aware that unless the transferred points were from a contract with the same use year and same resort as the destination contract, they will not show up in your online account. You will have to call MS to use them. This can be a disadvantage if you plan to use them right at the 11 or 7 month windows to reserve something that is popular.

If you go ahead with this purchase, be sure to verify that the transferred points were actually placed into your membership and that MS can see them. IMO, there is a good chance you will have an issue getting those points properly moved into your account after closing - it is not your common, run-of-the-mill situation.

I would think during the Estoppel that Disney would make sure that all the points that were being sold in the contract were verified including the transferred ones.

If it were the perfect contract otherwise, I would consider it but not add any value to transferred points or pay any dues accordingly. Just make it part of the contract.

I would check into this. I wanted to add my now adult kids onto a contract and remember reading something about if there's transfer points on the contract they will be lost during the process. I decided to just wait until the transfer points on the contract are used prior to going through the process. I would think the process is similar with purchase.

Sounds like a phone call to MS would clarify this.
